Here's to adding more padding to the rumor that women apparently 'expire' at 30. At 37-years-old, Maggie Gyllenhaal was apparently turned down to play the role of a love interest for a 55-year-old man because she was 'too old.'
The former Oscar nominee chatted with The Wrap about her experience dealing with sexism and ageism in Hollywood.
She told the website, "There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time. I'm 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh."
Maggie did not specify which movie the part was for, which critics say that gives those execs a free pass by not holding them accountable. Maggie did remain positive on the industry, saying, "A lot of actresses are doing incredible work right now, playing real women, complicated women. I don't feel despairing at all. And I'm more looking with hope for something fascinating."
A luxury apartment building in Brooklyn has been hit by a high staff turnover rate and no one really knows why.
The doormen who have been quitting left and right say the building that once was a hospital and that they are constantly spooked by eerie visions, sounds and even smells... sparking talk that the high-rise is haunted.
The 123 On The Park building on the southeast edge of Prospect Park was built on the site of the Caledonian Hospital, which closed in 2003. After developers transformed the Flatbush building into a luxury rental and reopened its doors in July 2014, tales emerged of strange voices and mysterious footsteps  which are being blamed on the ghosts of former patients.
At least three doormen have left in the past six months, according to a janitor who works in the building. One doorman who still works there told a superintendent in a nearby building that On The Park Âis a messed-up place to work because itÂ's haunted. ÂHe said he was doing routine security walks in the basement and the back of the building, and every time he would go down there by himself, he would hear footsteps echoing around him, the superintendent explained. ÂHe told me he felt like a presence was following him.
George Clooney may be a married man now, but that doesn't mean he's stopped pranking his buddy Brad Pitt. Actually, that may have enabled him to take his jokes a step further.
Recently Clooney told BBC host Graham Norton that his newest prank on Pitt is his best yet, but that it could get him into trouble. Clooney said, "I'm doing one now that I can't tell you about, but in a year you are going to hear I've been arrested-- I'm not kidding, because I think I've crossed the line. But I have a wife; she's a barrister. I'll be fine!"
If you thought an ATM was the ONE safe place to use your debit card-- think again.
FICO, which operates a card-monitoring service, has some bad news for you. It released new information that shows skimming attacks on debit cards reached a 20-year peak in the first three months of 2015. Skimming is when a criminal compromises an ATM machine in order to capture data from any user that inserts their debit card into the machine.
Scammers have been known to place skimmers in other unattended places such as gas pumps, and even the card readers used to unlock bank vestibule doors after hours. The banking industry is hoping the introduction of chip-embedded cards in the coming months will reduce the level of fraud that happens with debit and credit cards.

Kim Kardashian opened up about her sister, Kylie, admitting that she has temporary lip fillers.
Kim appeared on Access Hollywood, "I saw how for so many years she was so insecure about [her lips.] I mean, at ten years old, she would say to me, 'How come my lips aren't big like you guys'' And I would see this insecurity... For me, I gave her advice and I still stand by that advice. I think it changed her confidence so much."
Things just became a little more complicated in the Bobby Flay divorce.
His estranged wife, Stephanie March, it taking credit for his success while she filed legal documents to set aside their prenup. She claims Bobby told her she has "an amazing palate" and relied on her to taste test his recipes. She says she sampled a number of recipes at their home and gave thumbs up and down, which led to finished products.
She also claims she was heavily involved in deciding on the ambiance and layouts of all of Bobby's restaurants. If the prenup stands, March will receive just $5,000 a month, and get around a million dollar buyout for the family home.
Turns out those Iggy Azalea plastic surgery rumors are true. Then again, it was kinda obvious because something is not like the other when you compare old Iggy photos to her recent Billboard Awards appearance.
Insiders to Us Weekly claim that Iggy sprung for a nose augmentation AND a chin implant. The source added, "She loves the results! She wasnât happy with her nose for a long time, so after the boobs she wanted to get that taken care of and then got the chin done at the same time."
Starbucks is teaming up with music-streaming service Spotify to connect music lovers with their coffee. You see, Spotify is paying Starbucks in order to use its "stars" reward points. The service will reward subscribers with these "stars," which they can then redeem at Starbucks.
Customers will also be able to link their Spotify and Starbucks accounts and suggest songs to include in the music playlists of the Starbucks stores they frequent. Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz says there will be similar deals with other companies, adding, "Our long-term plan has been to create an external ecosystem with like-minded brands that will buy Starbucks stars from us and use them as a catalyst in their own business."
Social media is a powerful tool and analysts are using it to predict what the people want to see on the television.
Turns out they were able to determine which shows America wants to see the most. Fox's Scream Queens and CBS' Supergirl are among the most buzzed about new fall shows following network upfronts week. Supergirl was mentioned over 117,000 times over a one-week period but it was Ryan Murphy's new horror comedy that earned the top spot with over 122,000 mentions.
Legends of Tomorrow, CW's spinoff of Arrow and The Flash, came in third with 63,000 mentions.
Former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star and Dancing With the Stars winner Alfonso Ribeiro will be our new host of America's Funniest Home Videos.
Tom Bergeron has bowed out of the popular family series, so we can see Alfonso doing what he does best for the 26th season. That premieres in the fall.
Alfonso discussed the new gig saying, "It won't be very different. It's really about assisting the videos not trying to overpower the videos with your comedy. But I have a different energy than Tom does and I'm very animated and energetic, and some of that will absolutely come through. I'm sure it will be dance-related in some form...For me to able to come in and replace Tom, who's my idol in the hosting world, will be a challenge but one that I feel excited to be a part of."
There's a reason you can mindlessly sing along to those popular hits on the radio. Key word: mindlessly.
Andrew Powell-Morse, an entertainment and ticket data blogger, analyzed the lyrics of over 200 #1 songs that spent three or more weeks on the Billboard charts. He did this for several genres. The lyrics were then added into a computer program that analyze and determine a text's Readability Score and.... well. You may need to sit down for this.
The test revealed chart-toppers in 2005 had lyrics that fell between a third and fourth grade reading level, while in 2014 the songs averaged between a second and third grade reading level.
In other words: lyrics of popular music are getting dumber.
Among genres, country music had the highest reading level (3.3), followed by pop (2.9), rock 'n' roll (2.9) and R&B/hip-hop (2.6).
Modern Family star Ariel Winter plans on going to law school once she finishes high school and college.
She told E! at the show's finale screening party earlier this week, "I would love to continue acting but it's definitely important, I think, to go and do something else as well. You never know if something's not going to work out, if one day acting is like, 'No, we don't like you anymore!' You gotta have something else you can do. I've always been interested in law so I think it'll definitely be something that I'll love to do and also go to school for."
Ashton Kutcher is LIVID that the media continues to publish photos the paparazzi secretly took of his seven-month-old daughter.
He tweeted yesterday, "Why is it so hard for publications to respect that I would like the identity of my child kept private for safety reasons? Pls honor that." Photos of baby Wyatt were previously leaked back in January and posted on the Hollywood Life website.
Melissa McCarthy has finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She, along with her entourage consisting of her husband Ben Falcone, her mother and sister, along with friends Ellen DeGeneres and director Paul Feig gathered around for the ceremony on May 19th.
Melissa praised her parents for supporting her comedy dreams saying, "Every time I said, 'I'm going to quit college and do standup' my mom and dad would say, 'Great! Work hard at it and you could probably do it.' And they continued to say that for the 20 years it took me to actually do it steadily." Melissa's new movie, Spy, opens on June 5th.
If you're going to select someone to headline for one of the biggest Pride events in the nation, maybe it's best not to tap someone with a tumultous past with the LGBT community...
That said, Pittsburgh Pridefest attendees are livid that Iggy Azalea will be this year's headlining artist. According to the Pittsburgh City Paper, attendees have mounted a Facebook protest asking the event organizers to reconsider having Iggy perform at the LGBT event. Iggy's backlash, however, has nothing to do with her as a rapper, but everything to do with her past racist and homophobic tweets.Â
Michael David Battle -- the founder of the Garden of Peach Project, said, "The Iggy Azalea thing was just a last straw for folks. Since Delta [Foundation] took [Pittsburgh Pridefest] over, itâs been a white, cis, gay manâs event. It goes back to the root of pride and how pride was started â by two trans women of color who were retaliating against police violence. That type of rebellion of trans women of color is something that has to be celebrated and honored."Â
The Delta Foundation later responded in a statement, saying, "If we believed that Iggy Azalea was racist or homophobic, we certainly would not have selected her to headline Pittsburgh Pridefest. We also donât believe she would have agreed to come if she was racist or homophobic."

Chris Pratt has strong words for anyone that attempts, or has attempted, to hit on his wife, Anna Faris, right in front of him. And, boy, it makes him see red and we don't blame him!
He says that happened all the time before his meteoric rise to fame after Guardians of the Galaxy.
Chris tells GQ Mag, "I've had those moments, where I was like the guy holding the purse at events and people just looked right through me. And, you know, actors come up and just blatantly hit on my wife in front of me and don't even look at me. I'm like, 'What the f***, dude?' I can think of exactly who they are, too, and I hope they f***ing audition for Guardians of the Galaxy."
The 35-year-old continues, "Producers and studio people now who will come up to me and treat me the same way that they were treating Anna. They're like, 'I always knew...' I'm like, 'Is that right? That's interesting, because you f***ing stared right through me the last time."
Chris also admits he is fully prepared to put his son before his career saying, "I have a feeling I'll be tested and I'll have to prove to him that he's more important to me than show business, and I feel I'll be ready to pass that test...If it means turning down a big paycheck so that I can go camping for the weekend, being difficult with my contract so that I can be let out, and it means the quality of the film goes down because I'm not there to give everything, then so be it. And if it means retiring early and getting a ranch somewhere and just bird hunting, that's kind of what I secretly want to do anyways, so that'll be sweet."
You cringe when you hear "terrible twos" and we definitely know why. Hey, even we went through that stage even if we don't really remember it. However, the party is over.
Science has confirmed what some parents may have always known-- toddlers as young as two years old understand how to manipulate those around them by using sounds. In other words: when they're throwing a tantrum they know exactly what they're doing. Those slimy little critters!
Lead study author Rebecca Williamson says, "The research tells us more about what young children are capable of understanding. It means that it's developmentally appropriate to talk to two-year-olds about hearing and ask them to be quiet-- it's not out of their grasp to understand this. Whether a toddler chooses to be quiet is different."
Williamson explains that by age two, kids are beginning to understand the impact sounds can have on other people. She adds, "Maybe they've been woken up by someone else's noise, and they use this self-experience to make inferences about how their own behavior will influence others." The finding may help tailor school curriculum to kids at different ages
Leonardo DiCaprio recently attended a charity event at Cannes where he got into a bidding war with Paris Hilton. They were fighting over a Chanel bag that was being auctioned off to help poor children around the world. According to Page Six, the bag is estimated to be worth $11,300.
Being a procrastinator is easy, let's be real here. However, sometimes we don't like falling into the habit. Well, a new study from the University of Southern California suggests you can kick your behind into gear if you simply know how many days are between you and your deadline.
When scientists told participants how far away retirement was in either years or days, the people who knew the number of days planned to start saving money four times sooner than those who thought of retirement as years away. Study leader, Dr. Daphna Oyserman explains that counting down in days makes the future feel close and in need of current attention.

Meredith Vieira was the commencement speaker for Boston University's class of 2015 and bestowed graduates with memorable advice, "Be the Left Shark."
She reflected back on the Super Bowl saying, "Don't ever be a conformist for convenience's sake. You may be thinking of Tom Brady's deflated balls right now, but I'm thinking of Katy Perry's halftime performance." Meredith was awarded an honorary degree from the school even though she attended Tufts University.
Sofia Vergara has changed her mind on making children a priority in her relationship with Joe Manganiello. Sofia explained her decision to Redbook, "Joe is younger than me. He's 38. He's never had kids. How am I going to say no? I tell him if we're going to do this, we have to do it, like, now, because I don't want to be 50 with a baby."
Sofia has a 22-year-old son named Manolo from her first marriage. She is also currently involved in a legal dispute with her former fiancé, Nick Loeb, over embryos they froze during their relationship.
Cate Blanchett wants to clear the air regarding her love life and claims that someone twisted her words in her latest interview. She claims she never admitted to having lesbian relationships in the past despite what Variety published last week.
She clarified at Cannes over the weekend, "From memory, the conversation ran: 'Have you had relationships with women?' And I said, 'Yes, many times. Do you mean have I had sexual relationships with women? Then the answer is no.' But that obviously didn't make it."
In regards to the media's obsession with celebrity romance, Cate added, "In 2015, the point should be...who cares? My own life is of no interest to anyone else or maybe it is. But I certainly have no interest in putting my own thoughts and opinions out there."
Variety writer Ramin Setoodeh tweeted a response to her correction and wrote, "When I asked Cate Blanchett if she'd had lesbian relationships in real life, she said: 'Many times.' She was accurately quoted. #Cannes2015"
Cate has four children with husband Andrew Upton. They have been married since 1997.

We all know Pedialyte is aimed at small children, but aparently it's the nectar of life for some adults. That also means its demographic is changing.
Since 2012, thanks in large part to social media, the drink's use has exploded by 60% among the grown-up set, MarketWatch reports. Today, adults make up a third of Pedialyte drinkers, inspired in part by the likes of Pharrell Williams, who has publicized his love for the drink, Âwhich many believe is a great hangover cure.
"We saw increased use by adults. We have high electrolyte and lower sugar content than common (hydration) beverages," the rep says. "That combination caused us to say, ÂWe need to be part of this.'" Now, the company is pitching a "See the Lyte" marketing campaign that will put it up against the likes of Gatorade; the company will hit 144 sports games and music festivals with samples this year.
Jennifer Lopez can't put out rumors that she's rekindling something with her cheating ex, Casper Smart.
Although she insists she's single, the former couple were spotted together at the Billboard Music Awards during Fall Out Boy's performance.
Jennifer recently told Ellen DeGeneres, "Have you ever been at a point in your life where you don't know? Like you're not sure about things? Well, that's all. I am not sure about anything. I'm a grown woman. I'll say it. I'll say, 'You know what, this is going down.' But right now I just feel like...I am me."
Do you read your horoscope daily? Me, I'm born on a cusp so I get to read the Capricorn and Aquarius horoscopes and I have the luxury of opting to take the better one.
But, there are some people who think astrology holds no meaning (or, if you're Muslim, ignore them entirely because it's Haram,) but for the nonbelievers, science has something interesting to say.
UCONN researchers say that astrology (the time and date you were born) can really have an affect on your career path and future successes. Study leader, Dr. Mark Hamilton, analyzed astrological data from 300 public figures. He found their birth dates tended to fall in distinct clusters around similar times of year-- usually between December and March.
Hamilton writes in his report, "Psychologists want to dismiss these astrological correlations, but there are seasonality effects that we have yet to explain." He adds that astrology shouldn't be considered a practical scientific method, but that it can be a useful tool in identifying and predicting patterns in human behavior.
Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Nicholas Brendon was arrested for the third time this year over the weekend. He was taken into custody in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for public intoxication and impairment. His previous two arrests were in Florida. Nicholas addressed his recent trouble on Twitter by sharing a photo of himself at the beach and writing, "Twatters I love you all. Healing waters of Myrtle Beach. We are all human."
The crowd at the Billboard Music Awards didn't seem to have much love for Kendall and Kylie Jenner. The sisters were brought on stage to introduce Kanye West's performance but, the second they came on, boos erupted from the audience. Sources tell that the jeers were primarily from people sitting in the upper decks and not the celebrities in front area.
A source also revealed that the people also booed Kanye after his performance but it wasn't as loud as the reaction to Kendall and Kylie.
Matthew McConaughey wants to be a superhero but not for the reasons you'd think.
He revealed he's been considering taking a role with either Marvel or DC movie, "I've read some Marvel and DC scripts and I've talked about working with them on some scripts, none of which I'll share with you what they are -- or were. Yeah, I've circled some of those. Nothing has been right for me yet. But I'm sure open to it."
The Oscar winner added, "It's very simple for me. I look at the script. Is the opportunity exciting? Is the money that comes with it exciting? Sure. Is it the possibility of going, 'Hey you can get on a train and it can be a franchise and you could do 3, 4, 5, and have a great time as some kind of superhero or anti-hero.' But I would also look at something like that and say, 'Hey, in success that means you are on the train for a while.' Contractually, you're going to return to the character over and over. It's something I asked myself is it something I'd want to return to. Would I be excited to go back and put the shoes on the character again? Going and doing the press tour with that group of people again? I always ask myself those questions again. It starts with the story and character."
You may want to start stocking up on ice cream now.
It's the worst outbreak of bird flu in U.S. history and it is wiping out chickens and turkeys at an alarming rate. You can expect not only the price of a carton of eggs to go up, but also the prices of products like ice cream and mayonnaise which use liquid eggs as an ingredient.
Fifteen states have confirmed cases of avian flu, including Iowa, which supplies a fifth of the country's eggs, and has been hit particularly hard. Analysts warn that it takes time to build new flocks of laying chickens, and say prices will likely keep climbing, especially for liquid eggs.

Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!"

Khloe Kardashian has no patience with haters that attack her family. She blasted critics on social media when they called her family racist and "trying to be black" by having a Popeye's pajama party.
Khloe wrote, "Seeing some of the stories/comments in regards to my Instagram. How is any one "trying to be black" because they are eating food? I wasn't aware that food was limited to a certain skin color...I thought food was not specific to skin color but to humans in general.'To break bread together,' a phrase as old as the Bible, captures the power of a meal to forge relationships, bury anger, provoke laughter."
This the second time a Kardashian/Jenner post about Popeye's has made the news. Kylie Jenner recently posted about eating the fast food for the first time but was mistakenly heard confessing that she was "high as f***" while enjoying her chicken.
Digital Spy has reported that critics are comparing Amy Winehouse's documentary Amy to a "thriller."
Critic Peter Bradshaw also called the doc a "tragic masterpiece." In the review, he said, "Asif Kapadia's documentary study of the great British soul queen Amy Winehouse, who died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 27, is stunningly moving and powerful: intimate, passionate, often shocking, and almost mesmerically absorbing."
He added, "It is an overwhelming story, and despite everyone knowing the ending, it is as gripping as a thriller: Kapadia has fashioned and shaped it with masterly flair."
Other critics say the film was "dark" and showed the price of fame
Amy Winehouse's family say the biopic was exaggerated and mostly untrue. Her father, Mitch, says Hollywood is trying to destroy him.

Ellen then asked about the possibly of the show returning, saying, "Well, Cher has retired many times too." J.Lo then replied, "That's right. Rolling Stones have gone on their farewell tour how many times?"

Pitch Perfect also broke the record for the biggest opening for a first time director, Elizabeth Banks. There has been no official announcement but a third installment is likely.
Warner Bros. Mad Max reboot nabbed second place and earned around what the studio expected with $44.4 million.
The Tom Hardy/Charlize Theron action film drew a largely male crowd while the audience at Pitch Perfect 2 were 75% female.

Billboard charting artists from all walks of life were under the same roof Sunday evening for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Las Vegas. Taylor Swift was a force to be reckoned with, taking home eight awards including Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Digital Songs Artist.
Other winners for the evening included Florida Georgia Line, Iggy Azalea and Sam Smith -- who wasn't present due to a vocal cord injury, but relayed his speech via large cue cards.
And unlike prior Billboard Award shows, the event kicked off in a very unique way with help from Swift. With Matrix kicks, body slams, slick-back ponytails and help from Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Ellie Goulding and Kendrick Lamar -- to name a few, Taylor kicked off the 2015 Billboard Music Awards with the debut of the video for her record "Bad Blood."
The musical evening also included hit and miss jokes from hosts Chrissy Teigen and Ludacris and drinking game instructions. As well as heartfelt tributes to The Fast and the Furious' late Paul Walker, BB King, Ben E. King and The Breakfast Club.

FASHION FORWARD OR FASHION BACKWARDS?
It's almost rare that Jennifer Lopez doesn't slay whenever camera and/or red carpets are present and tonight was no different. J.Lo went for the ever-present, see-through look, but she stunned and it was rather effortless.
Taylor Swift went for a simple, yet sexy white jumpsuit and it absolutely, positively worked. Plain and simple.
Taraji P. Henson took a risk and actually wore the same black, cut-out gown that Miley Cyrus wore to the Grammys, however, the risk was well worth the reward because she looked great.
Kylie Jenner outshined her sister Kendall. They both wore Balmain, but Kylie's high neck, stripped dress with the large gold belt was far more flattering than Kendall's ill-fitted, beaded jacket and pants.
The mistress of ceremony Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend looked great as an item. A perfectly balanced and well-dressed couple on the red carpet.
Perhaps Iggy Azalea was trying to channel the theme from the "Pretty Girls" video for the entire evening? Either way, she completely missed the target with her baby blue crop top and skirt, fuchsia heels and blunt bob with pink ends. No ma'am.
Britney Spears' nude gown wasn't a fail, it was just underwhelming and forgettable. What did she wear again? Oh.
Rita Ora, sometimes she nails it, sometimes she hits her thumb with the hammer. Unfortunately, the thumb is swollen on this one. Her white gown with the high slit and large broaches was just odd, and unappealing.
Zendaya seems to have a red carpet goal in mind every time, which is to make sure she makes the fashion list -- whether it's the best or worst dressed column. This outfit gave has Fran from The Nanny written all over it. *insert obnoxious laugh here*
Van Halen hit the Billboard stage for the first-time ever, performing their record "Panama."
Fall Out Boy hit the stage to perform "Uma's Praises" with the added touch of female dancers dressed in black and white, and help with Wiz Khalifa.

Meghan Trainor and John Legend did a duet of Meghan's record "Like I'm Gonna Lose You."
Mariah Carey hit the stage for the first time in 17 years and although she didn't channel old Mariah, she concluded her performance of "Infinity" with a high note.
Wiz Khalifa performs "See You Again" with Charlie Puth in honor the late Paul Walker.

Faith Hill and Little Big Town hit the stage to perform "Girl Crush."
Chris Brown added some spice to Pitbull's performance of "Fun."
Ed Sheeran gave an electrifying guitar strummed performance of "Bloodstream."
Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea gave their highly anticipated, high energy performance of "Pretty Girls."
Nicki Minaj whined her waist in a bralette and skirt during her performance of "The Night Is Still Young" and "Hey Mama" with David Guetta.
Tory Kelly -- who was honored as Kia's "One to Watch" performed her breakout single, "Nobody Love."
Simple Minds performs "Don't You (Forget About Me)" from The Breakfast Club.
Kelly Clarkson made a powerful comeback with her performance of "Invincible"
Imagine Dragons performed a tribute of "Stand By Me" in honor of the late Ben E. King.
Kanye West closed out the show with an intense medley of his tracks "All Day" and "Blkkk Skkkn Head" -- of which the major of the lyrics appeared to be blurred out, unless that was some sort of technical glitch.
The Simpsons will not be killing off any of the beloved characters that were voiced by Harry Shearer. If you haven't heard, Harry was fired and this will be exiting the last season you'll hear his voice.
Showrunner Al Jean is adamant that the characters that Harry gave life to (Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, ect) will be easily recast "with the finest voiceover talent available."
TMZ is reporting, however, that producers are hoping to still work things out with Harry. A source explained, "It was difficult for him not to come back. He loves all 23 of his characters. If there's a way to work this out and continue to have a career in addition to 'The Simpsons' he would be delighted."

Ordering a pizza is about to get a whole lot easier for the super busy or the lazy.
Starting May 20th, Domino's will let customers order a real-life pizza by simply tweeting a pizza emoji to their Twitter account. Of course, you'll have to go to the pizza chain's website first for a one-time "Easy Order" setup, but after that the process is fully automated. Considering Domino's allows customers to place order via its app or website, is this new way of doing so really necessary?
Jared Newman writes for PCWorld, "Is this basically just a PR stunt? Perhaps, but if you always order the same thing, it might be nice not to junk up your phone with yet another app." Will you be utilizing twitter and the pizza emoji to order from Domino's?

How do you feel about standardized tests in schools? If you had to take them, chances are you aren't too keen on them. AND there seems to be more and more coming out every day.
But that may soon have to change because a new study suggests that schools that spend more time teaching how to take the tests comes at the expense of college preparedness.
The problem is that under current education policy, schools that don't meet standardized testing benchmarks become subject to penal reform policies. Obviously, the result is now, schools are placing greater focus on preparing students for these tests.
To test their hypothesis on the relation between college readiness and standardized tests, scientists interviewed students attending a high school in Texas that was considered to be "failing" because their test scores were too low. As a result, the curricula was geared toward the basic skills of the test, and students were pushed into intervention programs.
Anjale Welton, a professor of educational policy at the University of Illinois, interviewed students from the school to find they felt "stigmatized" and "humiliated" by their school's failing status.
In a press release, Welton writes, "The goal of standards and assessments is to make students more prepared for the rigors of college, but are schools implementing these measures in a way that emphasizes college readiness? Are they sending the message that students should go to college, and assisting them in applying and finding financial aid and scholarships? We should be able to do both-- hold schools accountable and create a college-going culture."
Welton says the results show that education reformers need to rethink how they apply penalties to struggling schools.
Joan Rivers may have had a lot of love for Kathy Griffin, but Melissa sure doesn't.
Melissa sat down with Hoda Kotb and they got into the discussion concerning the Fashion Police drama and Kathy's abrupt exit from the show.
Melissa said very tartly, "We were a family, cast and crew and staff, and we went back too fast. And when the matriarch dies, the sisters started fighting, and someone tried to marry in...not a great match."
She added, "My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of sh** all over my mother's legacy in her statement on leaving. I know that was not an intentional reading of it, but that's how I felt...calling the comedy and the style of it old-fashioned. It was like, I understand what you were doing, you're trying to save yourself, but don't crap all over my mother to do it."
She also admitted that she doesn't think the Zendaya situation would've blown up as it did if her mother was still alive. OUCH.

What percentage do you normally tip a waiter for good service? Published in the journal Economic Psychology, a new study reveals women are actually more superficial than men when it comes to tipping. OMG!
Over 200 customers were surveyed about their experiences at five different restaurants and were asked about how much they tipped their servers, how good the service was, and how attractive their servers were on a scale of one to five.
Female participants were more likely than the guys to rank a female server as a one ("homely") or a two ("below average.") The ladies also tipped 84 more cents per dollar spent to female servers they rated as attractive (rated three to five) than servers they considered unattractive.
There was no difference in how much men tipped male or female servers based on their appearances, and very little difference in how much women tipped male servers based on their appearances. Study authors write the results could mean that women reward other women for looking good more than guys do, regardless of the level of service provided.

Justin Bieber wants to expunge his troubled image from the public eye and bring the focus back on his music.
In the latest issue of Seventeen magazine, the singer spoke candidly on his past behavior. He told the mag, "I was rebelling a little bit. I was getting cockier and cockier. I didn't have people to check me. I looked back and I was disappointed in myself. You have to own up to the mistakes. You have to say, 'I'm sorry if I've let you down.' I always want to be honest and let people know that those mistakes aren't who I am. Who I am is someone who really cares about people."
Bieber went on to say that he is getting better with how he handles negativity on social media. He continued, "For a while, I was busy looking at my Instagram likes, and if a post didn't get a certain amount, I was like, 'Aw, they didn't like the photo.' But there's always a choice: You can let Instagram or stuff on the Internet affect your day, or you can choose to not be bothered by it."
The singer also said that he plans to be more conscious about the people he'll foster relationships with in the future, saying, "I need healthy relationships with people I can feel safe with. People I can say whatever to, and I'm not going to be judged."
And as far as a future girlfriend, Bieber said, "In a girl, I want someone who's confident in herself and honest. I have to find her very attractive and as someone I can see myself with for the rest of my life."
What about if you had to get naked to not fail a class? Me? I'd personally march my little behind to the university president and raise a fine little hell. So, check this out:
A professor at the University of California, San Diego, told his visual arts class that they must exhibit themselves in the buff before a naked class of 20 and a nude professor or fail an upper-level course. Instead of a student complaining, it was a mom.
Faculty members and former students defend the elective course and maintain that Âperforming the self class participants may also employ figurative nudity to pass the final. Â
"We had a choice between being nude or doing something emotionally Ânaked and every student but one chose to do the nude performance,Â" one commenter said. Â"It was uncomfortable for some of us but we were adults and knew what we were getting ourselves into from day one of the class.Â"
But the studentÂs mother accused the professor of Âperversity and said the final test was Âjust wrong. Â"To blanketly say, ÂYou must be naked in order to pass my class  it makes me sick to my stomach,Â" she said.
Maybe it was a good idea to go get my bachelor's in English...

Morgan Freeman wants weed to be legalized. The 77-year-old was recently interview by The Daily Beast where he was not shy about proclaiming his love for the drug.
Morgan told the website, "They used to say, 'You smoke that stuff, boy, you get hooked!' My first wife got me into it many years ago. How do I take it? However it comes! I'll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time coming, and it's getting legs -- longer legs. Now, the thrust is understanding that alcohol has no real medicinal use. Maybe if you have one drink it'll quiet you down, but two or three and you're f***ed."
He continued, "Marijuana has many useful uses. I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They're talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they've discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, 'Legalize it across the board!'"

Monday mornings are rough, but women say they look their best Monday mornings at around 10:06 AM. Maybe it's because of the extra sleep they nabbed over the weekend?
Specifically, women said on Mondays between 9 and 11 AM is when they reach their "beauty peak," and 10:06 AM is when they feel freshest and most attractive.
This comes from a poll out of the UK of about 1,000 women. 72 percent of women say they're excited to start their beauty routine on Mondays, and 31 percent picked it as the day when they look most attractive.
Friday came in second place, with 23 percent of women saying it's the day they feel most attractive. Just three percent of women said they felt they looked their best on Thursdays, with the main reason being they had steadily lost interest in their appearance over the course of the work week.
But when do we feel the least attractive?
The poll reveals ladies feel most unattractive on Thursdays at 4:05 PM. By that point, we just want to TGIF out of work.

Saturday Night Live is being accused again for plagiarism, this time about their "Draw Prophet Muhammad" sketch. Apparently, a similar skit that appeared on a Canadian show called This Hour Has 22 Minutes back in January. The plot involved a drawing game show where a contestant was asked to draw the Prophet Mohammed.
This Hour writer Bobby Kerr tweeted about the similarities but nobody from Saturday Night Live or NBC has responded. SNL was also called out for ripping off a skit from The Groundlings back in October.
It hasn't been a good week for TV fans and the news is just getting worse.
CBS is reportedly planning to end CSI after 15 seasons. The 15th season of the show wrapped back in February but it is believed that the network is planning a two-hour movie special as a final send-off.
CBS has already renewed its spinoff, CSI: Cyber, for a second season.
Saturday Night Live got mad kudos for a clever skit based on the controversial topic of drawing images of the Prophet Muhammad, which offends many Muslims, and which was involved in the Charlie Hebdo massacre and in the recent incident in Texas last week where two gunmen opened fire outside a contest to draw images of Muhammad that many called anti-Muslim.
In the skit, which is a take on the classic game show, Win, Lose or Draw, contestants are given a word or phrase to draw, while their partners try to guess what it is. The characters played by Bobby Moynihan and Keenan Thompson balk when the card telling them what to draw says "The Prophet Muhammad." Twitter approved, and among the praise, Salon called it "brilliant."

Things aren't looking all that promising for Lindsay Lohan. Actually, they're looking kinda suspect.
Just a few days after an L.A. judge brought the gavel down on her incomplete court-mandated hours, it has now been revealed that the 10 hours she managed to complete were mainly done from home.
According to E! News, her duties at the youth-volunteer non-profit included "reorganizing and posting photos on CSV Facebook page" and mailing out business cards.
Lindsay's rep addressed the controversy in a statement which read, "There is no sign in or sign out details for this activity. Unfortunately a member of staff gave Lindsay a memory stick so she could do this work at home, I apologize. The member of staff was not aware that hours could not be done at home. Lindsay has shown and will continue to show a deep commitment to helping children and is committed to satisfying the requirements of the court."
The judge gave Lindsay until May 28th to finish the remaining 114 hours. Sources tell TMZ that the troubled actress is making a mad dash to get her time done but it is unclear where or how she plans to squeeze it all in.
Lindsay previously came under fire for trying to pass off meet-and-greets at her play as part of her service.

The Window of the World theme park in China has a new attraction that some are just dying to ride. It's called Samadhi: 4D Experience of Death, and it's designed to give riders the sensation of being dead, cremated, and reborn.
First, the visitor goes on a journey through a "morgue." Next, they are placed in a casket and put on a conveyor belt for "cremation" -- which is simulated by a sudden blast of hot air over the rider to simulate flames. The air reaches temperatures up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
The attraction also uses flashes of light to give the rider "an authentic experience of burning." Finally, an image of a womb is projected onto the ceiling and riders must crawl until they reach a white, padded room -- where they are "reborn."

A new article in New York magazine argues that men not only don'Ât want to do household chores... they donÂt want them done by ANYONE!
Here's an excerpt:
"Women do more housework than men when they share a home, and this division is an important source of unfairness that needs to be eliminated. But thereÂs an interesting debate over just how to eliminate it. I have argued that male and female partners often have different levels of cleanliness, and rather than assume the higher level of cleanliness is correct, couples should instead meet in the middle. But is it a Âgender essentialist assumption that women have higher standards of cleanliness than men?
Are men merely using this excuse to force their female partners to serve as maids?
The answer turns out to be no. Via Christopher Ingraham, a new study by University of Maryland sociology professor Liana Sayer finds that men do indeed prefer, on average, to do much less cleaning. ÂIn 2012, she reports, Âsingle women with no children reported doing almost twice as much cooking, cleaning, and laundry as single men with no children.Â"
Charlize Theron says that women who want equal pay need to ask for it. She talks all about wage inequality in the upcoming Elle UK's June issue.
Charlize explains, "I have to give them credit because once I asked, they said yes. They did not fight it. And maybe that's the message: That we just need to put our foot down. This is a good time for us to bring this to a place of fairness, and girls need to know that being a feminist is a good thing. It doesn't mean that you hate men. It means equal rights. If you're doing the same job, you should be compensated and treated in the same way."
Charlize used information about the wage gap for the stars of American Hustle to make sure she would be paid the same as Chris Hemsworth for their upcoming film, The Huntsman.
She also discusses being objectified in Hollywood saying, "Someone thought it was a good idea to market almost the entire movie on me; objectifying me a little bit. I got a lot of attention from it, but the problem was that, afterwards, it was like, 'We want you to do that again. Can you just do that?' And so I didn't work for almost two years."
Love or hate her, Taylor Swift does her best to treat her fans as family. She reached out to one of her fans who was down on Mother's Day because her mother died.
Swift wrote the fan via Tumblr, "Kaileen . . . I love you so much and can't imagine what you must be feeling today. You've lived through my worst fear. I'm so sorry you can't spend today with her . . . It's not fair, and there's no reason why you should feel okay about it. No one should ever expect you to feel normal today."
We're coming off the heels of Mother's Day and a newly released batch of motherhood statistics is making women glow with pride. Research finds that more married women of higher education are having more and more children.
The findings come from the Pew Research Center. About 78% of American women between the ages of 40 and 44 with a master's degree or more had at least one child as of last year, up from 70% in 1994. Even more women, proportionally, with PhDs or MDs are having children – about 80% in 2014, compared to 65% in 1994. Highly educated women are having more children too: 27% have three or more, compared to 22% in 1994.

Louis Tomlinson and former ID bandmate Zayn Malik refuse to put down their swords and their fight got 10 times worse after Zayn's producer, Naughty Boy, threw in his two cents.
During an interview over the weekend, Naughty Boy called out Tomlinson for not supporting Malik. The producer said, "Louis needs to shut his mouth. He is just a child. He's messing with a sleeping lion and you shouldn't have woken up a sleeping lion as you are only going to regret it."
He added, "It's not fair for the fandom to go for us because we haven't done anything. I don't know Louis so I can only base my judgment on what he says and he is acting like a 12-year-old."
Remember a few years ago when kids were given names with a "unique" spelling or were named after the Twilight series? It looks like that trend is over and parents are choosing to name their newborns after their grandparents.

On top of cancelling his Australian leg of his tour, his voice is so damaged that he has to undergo vocal cord surgery. Sam broke the news on his Facebook by writing, "I am very upset to announce I have been battling to get my vocal cords better the last 10 days but unfortunately they haven't recovered and I am going to need surgery. I'm so gutted to be missing all the shows and events I was meant to be playing at. The doctors say I will be back in 6-8 weeks and I cannot wait to sing for you all soon."
Smith later took to Instagram to reveal that his surgery will force him to cancel all of his upcoming tour dates. He wrote, "Bad news. I have my operation booked for next week, so getting really nervous. But by doing this in 8 weeks time I'm gonna be able to sing like never before so it's worth it. I am so sorry to all. Dreading the next month thou, I can't speak for THREE WEEKS after the op."
Somedays the news picks up some hard hitting stories. This one, however, isn't really one of them.
Police in Arizona thought they were onto a major case when someone reported human remains in the Colorado River. Instead of work, they found a staged "underwater skeleton tea party." Don't worry, the skeletons were 100% fake.
The La Paz County Sheriff's Department said deputies received a report from a snorkeler who spotted the strange sight. A Buckskin Fire Department diver investigated by using a video camera and found that the remains were actually a pair of fake sheletons in lawn chairs having what the sheriff's department described as an "underwater skeleton tea party."
Grab the popcorn: One Direction is back in a sense... back to fighting and boy is it U-G-L-Y.
1D member Louis Tomlinson is beefing something awful with Zayn Malik and Naughty Boy after the producer posted a photo of himself Zayn on Twitter with the caption, "Replace this."
Tomlinson threw some shade in return, saying, "Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha! Some people still do HA!"
Naughty Boy quickly shot back at Tomlinson and said, "@Louis_Tomlinson and some people can't even sing.. but who's complaining when there's auto tune eh."
The 1D singer replied, "Jesus forgot you were such an in-demand producer…. How does it feel to be riding on the back of someone else's career?" However the exchange didn't end there. Zayn chimed in and said to Louis, "Remember when you had a life and stopped making b*tchy comments about mine?"
Naughty Boy then wrote, "@Louis_Tomlinson Yeah how does it feel mate? You've been doing that for the last five years… I've got Emeli Sande and Sam Smith on my CV."
Louis replied afterwards, "@NaughtyBoyMusic good for you , well done !! I think we've done alright in terms of sales and I've happened to write on most. Keep trying!"
One Direction fans certainly took notice of the back and forth between Louis and Naughty Boy and started the hashtag "#TOMLINSONSLAYSAGAIN" which began trending worldwide.
Is Lady Gaga pregnant? It looks like she is sporting a baby bump in these photos of her hanging out with her fiancé on the beach. A source tells Star Magazine, "You could easily see what looked like a baby bump."

Hmmm... maybe this is why my allergies have been manageable so far this season!
Gotta hand it to yogurt, it's been linked to numerous health benefits, from losing weight, to warding off urinary tract infections, and depression.
Now, researchers say that yogurt may take out hay fever! Doctors at Vanderbilt University looked at 23 studies and said that it looks like the probiotics found in yogurt provide a significant clinical benefit in the prevention of seasonal allergies. (The probiotics are believed to improve the inflammation caused by pollen). One serving should do the trick, doctors say.
Mindy Kaling isn't bothered that Fox axed her sitcom, The Mindy Project. She took to social media to share a video of her lush green surroundings along with a quick shot of herself winking and wrote, "Hey guys, I'm in Montana, is anything happening in LA? #themindyproject"
It is rumored that Hulu is the front-runner to pick up the show for a multi-season deal.
Sofia Vergarais finally speaking out about her frozen embryo lawsuit against ex-fiancé Nick Loeb.
She appeared on Good Morning America and lambasted her ex for making such a private issue this public. Sofia said, "I've been working very hard for 20 years to get to this point where I am. I promote all my movies, all my work, but I don't like promoting my private life. And I don't want to allow this person to take more advantage of my career and try to promote himself and get press for this."
She futhered, "Why is the press allowing somebody to invent things and create press for himself? He's not an actor. He's not a celebrity. It's like, why? This shouldn't be out there for people to give their opinion when there's nothing to talk about. There's papers signed...I don't understand why the media is allowing a person to just try to put me down, and make it like something is happening when nothing is happening."
Looks like Lindsay Lohan can't stay out of the headlights or trouble.
There's a new controversy over if she really did complete her court-assigned community service. Lohan has to face the judge and say, for certain, if they completed the 125 additional hours required of her after her last hearing. That isn't enough for prosecutors. They want to issue a warrant for her arrest because she allegedly completed less than 20 hours.
Lindsay shared a photo on Instagram earlier this week showing a stack of paper and the caption "Community Service -office day" in an attempt to prove that she has been hard at work.
Hey, is there a village out there missing a key citizen?
A Nebraska woman has filed a federal lawsuit in Omaha asking for a federal judge to rule on whether or not homosexuality is a sin. The suit includes a seven page handwritten file detailing her lawsuit against all homosexuals on behalf of "God" and "his son, Jesus Christ."
Sylvia Driskell will be representing herself in the lawsuit and said, "I never thought that I would see a day in which our great nation or our own great state of Nebraska would become so compliant to the complicity of some peoples lewd behavior. Why are judges passing laws, so sinners can break religious and moral laws. Will all the judges of this nation, judge God to be a lier [liar]."
Someone should remind her about separation of church and state.
Put down those shot glasses! Kylie Jenner has put all questions regarding her lips to rest.
In a sneak peek of the next episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kylie admits, "I have temporary lip fillers, it's just an insecurity of mine and it's what I wanted to do. I'm just not ready to talk to reporters about my lips yet because everyone always picks us apart. I want to admit to the lips, but people are so quick to judge me on everything, so I might have tiptoed around the truth, but I didn't lie."
Fans all over social media previously participated in a "Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge," where they would jamp their lips into a shot glass and start sucking to create a temporary plumped lip.
Kylie addressed the challenge on Twitter, writing, "I'm not here to try & encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think this is the way they should look. I want to encourage people/young girls like me to be YOURSELF & not be afraid to experiment w your look."
As a daughter of a retired State Police Lieutenant, my sister and I have plenty of stories about the lasting first impressions my father gave our boyfriends. Maybe a few of them ended up on this Reddit thread that is going viral right now.
Men and women are sharing their most mortifying father-boyfriend scenarios and they are hilarious!
One user said: 'My first girlfriend's dad got me pretty bad. I picked her up one night and she says her father (a police officer) needs to talk to me. I go upstairs and find him sitting at a table with 6 bullets on it. He tells me to pick one out which I do. He then proceeds to write my name on it, hand it to me, and tells me to "have a good night, but not too good."'
Another father used his disability to strike fear into a young man's heart: 'I know a guy who had a prosthetic leg. His daughter's new boyfriend comes over and the guy is wearing trousers - the boyfriend didn't know he has a prosthetic leg. Talking to the boyfriend, he eventually said to him "You gotta be tough!" and stabbed his fake leg with a knife.'
Miley Cyrus is sick and tired of people breaking into her home, so she's dropped $5 million on a new ranch on the outskirts of L.A. County.
And, man, is this house AWESOME. It boasts a 5 and a 1/2 acre estate that is part of a gated community that includes a riding arena, a barn, a chicken coop, and a vineyard. It also has better security.
Sources say her current Toluca Lake home was broken in three different times in a little over a year.
Polish doctors successfully performed a super rare throat transplant for a 37-year-old man. The patient was suffering from an aggressive cancer of the voice box. The transplant took a total of 17 hours.
The operation successfully transplanted the windpipe, esophagus, thyroid gland, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and skin from a donor. As a result of the successful procedure, the patient—who could not breath, swallow or speak prior to the surgery-- is now able to swallow liquefied food, and is expected to eventually eat, breath and speak normally.
This means this is the third person in the world to have a successful neck and throat transplant. The future of medicine is looking bright!
Rosie O'Donnell was due in court earlier this week to begin the custody battle against her ex, Michelle Rounds. However, while Rosie made it, Michelle stayed out of the courthouse to supposedly care for their two-year-old daughter, Dakota, who reportedly fell ill with a fever.
Rosie and Michelle called it quits in February after two years of marriage.
Goop has to scooch over because Reese just launched her own lifestyle website: Draper James. She is marketing it as a shopping website that focuses on "southern style" and offers items for the home. It also features jewelry and clothing.
The Draper James title combines her grandparents' names.
A former Glee actor says the show jumped the shark.
Kevin McHale told the Huffington Post, "I will say, not to bring it down or anything, when Cory Monteith died, I don't think the show ever came back from that. It wasn't for a lack of trying, but the story was going in one direction with his character and he was one of two main characters of the show. So, I think after that, the vibe on set is different. It was just weird for us being there, never mind actually having to be filming. Being one of the writers in that sort of situation, I wouldn't know what I what have done because I was like, 'I don't really even want to be here,' never mind having to think of stories revolving around these characters anymore."
Critics, however, say the show jumped the shark far before Cory's death. Many point to season 3 as the turning point for Glee and say should have ended after that season.
Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye, along with Chris Evans (Captain America,) were in a lot of hot water after jokingly that Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow, is a "slut." Chris Evans apologized for the remarks, saying they were tasteless and immature. Renner, on the other hand... not so much.
During a recent visit to Conan, the actor tried to explain the fallout from the off color joke. He said, "Yeah, it was a joke, off-collared or whatever, but yeah, I'm apologetic about a lot of things. But yeah, I got in a lot of Internet trouble. I guess that's a thing now ."
He explained, "So I was asked the question, 'Black Widow has been linked to Hawkeye, Iron Man, Bruce Banner and Captain America, so what do you think about that?' And I said, 'Well, sounds like she's a slut.'"
He added, "Now, mind you, I'm talking about a fictional character and fictional behavior, but Conan, if you slept with four of the six Avengers, no matter how much fun you had, you'd be a slut. Just saying. I'd be a slut."
Renner probably forgot about Hawkeye's extensive "dating" history because it blows Black Widow out of the water (11 to 5)... but, hey, if we're talking who racks up the most bedding points, it's Robert Downey Jr.'s character, Iron Man, who takes the cake (23+).
So, maybe too much social media is bad for us. I mean, there's now studies proving that there is a link between Facebook and divorce!
According to research that was commissioned by a law firm, it found that social media, especially Facebook, factors in one out of seven divorces.
Other studies point out social media can become a veritable breeding ground for competition and jealousy among friends and random acquaintances, so it would only make sense that it would spark similar feelings among couples.
According to Andrew Newbury, a lawyer at Slater and Gordon, "Social media is the new marriage minefield. Social media, specifically pictures and posts on Facebook, are now being routinely raised in divorces."
Snapchat is also a big Pandora's box for couples, because its design is already secretive. You could potentially be sending tons of sexy photos to someone, and your spouse can never find the evidence, because it just disappears. One self-proclaimed cheating expert says Snapchat is the best way to cover your tracks, but that in turn makes partners even more suspicious of it.
Coldplay donated 10,000 British pounds -- or just over $15,000 in U.S. dollars -- to a quadruple amputee who lost his limbs from a deadly infection. According to the BBC, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin personally emailed the man, Alex Lewis, writing, "I was very moved by your story having read about it recently and wanted to reach out and say how incredible your approach to life is and inspiring. It seems like you have been on an amazing journey and handled it with awesome force."
Martin concluded by writing, "I hope you are doing good and thank you for renewing my faith in life."
Lewis, a father, contracted a streptococcal infection which led to the rare Strep A Toxic Shock Syndrome. His infected limbs were starting to poison his body and had to be amputated to save his life.
Lewis has appeared on radio and TV since then to talk about how he wants to help others less fortunate than him.
Rosemary Court, who helps manage Lewis's charity trust, said they had been "astonished" to discover the substantial donation from the band, calling it "such a lift" for Lewis.
She added that the donation may go toward a new pair of prosthetic legs for Lewis. The trust has also received donations from celebrity chef James Martin and the community in which Lewis lives.
Coldplay's most recent album, Ghost Stories, arrived last May.
Last December, Chris Martin revealed that the band was already at work on its follow-up, which he said would be called A Head Full Of Dreams.
Looks like Tidal does pay its artists more than Spotify.
An unnamed independent label anonymously released a report showing its earnings for March and it shows that Tidal's pay outs per stream are higher than Spotify. Spotify pays "between $0.006 and $0.0084" per stream. However, the leaked report says that Tidal pays an average of $0.014 per stream.
Meanwhile, a rep for Tidal is saying that this report is incorrect. The rep told Complex, "This is not one of TIDAL's royalty statements—for the same period (March 2015) as this purported 'leaked' statement, TIDAL paid an average royalty per stream of $0.024-0.028, or double the royalty shown in the statement."
What an awesome story. We hope it has a happy ending, too!
A Rhode Island man took to advertising to find his wife a kidney. It all started with a simple sign on the back of his pickup truck that read, "Type O Blood. Wife Need Kidney. Please Donate." The sign included his phone number.
But now, Jim Small, operates an online campaign to spread his message around. His wife, April, was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease over 20 years ago. She is currently on a list to receive a transplant but if she gets a donor she could have surgery immediately.
After a seven year-long engagement, Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo are finally husband and wife.

That fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may be scraped from the records. Manny is now blaming a shoulder injury for the loss and that has sparked an investigation that may lead to perjury charges.

The Kardashians and Sears have parted ways and they're packing up their Kardashian Kollection. Although the collection is missing from store shelves, the family will announce a new retail partner soon. An insider blamed the split on Sears closing over 200 stores in the past couple of years.
Because what 5 year-old DOESNÂT need to master nunchucks? This kidnamed Ryusei is probably most definitely the next Bruce Lee because he can perfectly imitate those sick nunchaku moves from "Game of Death."
Without warning or explanation, Joss Whedon, director of Avengers: Age of Ultron, purged his Twitter account.
Despite the film's success, Whedon's film was criticized by how it depicted women, most infamously when Scarlett Johansson's character, Black Widow, says that she is a monster just like the Hulk because she is sterile, a dialogue that didn't sit too well with the female audience.
According to DigitalSpy, the filmmaker signed off with two final messages for his 1.14 million followers. His final tweet read: "Thank you to all the people who've been so kind and funny and inspiring up here."
Twitter aside, Whedon has a big reason to celebrate this week. Avengers: Age of Ultron made more than $191 million over the weekend making it the second-largest box office opening weekend for a film ever.
A new thread on Reddit asked women what they REALLY wanted to know about men. The answers are hilarious, eye-opening, and dang insightful. For example; why men rarely cry.
One woman called melusina84 revealed that she had only seen her husband of 12 years cry three times and that she cried on average once a month. Men were quick to point out that they had been programmed not to cry from a young age by society pressures. One man called FyreFlusaid: 'If you were taught your entire life that crying in public is an unacceptable behavior, you wouldn't do it much either.'
While the habit of crying is very different between the sexes, some women wanted to know if anyone ever used the flap provided on most boxers for quick access. A woman called natcoba said: 'That underwear flap, do you actually use it? Or do you just pull your thing out of your underwear to pee?'
--Ladies, were any of these questions on your list?
--What do YOU want to know about guys? Do you have a question about their bodies, their behaviors what? Are they mysterious to you? Are they an enigma? Or are guys pretty easy to figure out?
Oh, the wonders of digging through the tabloid trash. Obviously, the Royal Family is front and center this week due to Princess Charlotte's debut, so romance rumors about the world's most eligable bachelor are ramping up.
Apparently, Jennifer Lawrence turned down a date with Prince Harry. Apparently he wanted to set something up, but we're not really buying it. I mean, two weeks ago he was supposedly interested in Emma Watson, which turned out to be 1000% false.
One insider said, "Harry made his aide invite her out to dinner and coupled it with an invite for her to see Kensington Palace." Jennifer reportedly turned down the offer presumably because she is still believed to be dating Chris Martin.
Rumors of Harry's interest in Jennifer first popped up back in 2013 where he supposedly tried to arrange a meeting with her in New York.
Jennifer has a history of dating British boys. Prior to Chris, she dated her X-Men co-star Nicholas Hoult for several years before splitting in 2013.
Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams are gearing up for round #2 in court.
Their lawyers are boning up on their material and are trying to get a new Blurred Lines trial. They're citing reasons for the appeal is due to problems such as including jury instruction errors, improper testimony and insufficient evidence.
Marvin Gaye's estate has also filed motions to stop distribution of "Lines" by claiming Interscope and UMG Recordings are responsible for allowing the plagiarism to occur. A judge will address those motions at a June 29 hearing.
Love or hate the Kardashians, it's hard to avoid hearing about them every single day. However, if you're part of the crowd sick and tired of hearing about them, we have news for you.
There's now a web browser extension that was created specifically to filter them out of your life. It's called KardBlock, and the creators promise it will make all things Kardashians disappear.
The KardBlock site reads, "If there's anything on your newsfeed, the website you're on, whatever… we simply make it disappear. You won't ever know the stories about the Kardashians are there, because you won't ever see them. We are also working on customization to block content related to Justin Bieber. Why? So you can see more of the real issues."
What content do you with your browser could block out?
Melissa Rivers is slowly detailing more and more about her mother's death. She sat down with Matt Lauer and said she was flying across the country to be with her mom when she received emails that Joan had already been put into a medially-induced coma which she "knew was bad."
Rivers said the entire experience was "surreal' and "100 percent preventable."
Kylie and Kendall Jenner don't want you using their names. They are attempting to trademark their first names to "entertainment in the nature of providing information by means of a global computer network in the fields of entertainment, fashion and pop culture." The documentation would also give them exclusive rights to their names for personal appearances "by a celebrity actress and model."
Hey, we get it, nature calls a little more strongly to others. But, please, for the sake of your own ego, do detach or shut off any and all recording devices before going about your business.
This council meeting in Georgetown, Texas, came to a screeching halt when a councilman left to take care of his business and forgot to buddy check his microphone. This caused the city's mayor pro-term Rachael Jonrowe to break down in tears and laugh throughout the rest of her speech.
After the lawsuit with "Blurred Lines," there's reason to be cautious... It's clear that Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' hit "Uptown Funk" harkens back to the golden age of funk, so to avoid stepping on any toes and protect their earnings, they've added five new writing credits to the song.
Included in the credits are members of The Gap Band as contributors to "Uptown Funk," giving credit to the fact they used elements of the Funk band's 1979 track "Oops Up Side Your Head." There's also a credit for the use of a sample of a Trinidad James track "All Gold Everything."
A lawyer involved said, "Everyone is being a little more cautious. Nobody wants to be involved in a lawsuit."
An Italian man hung up on Pope Francis not once... but TWICE. Oh, ouch, how embarrassing.
He honestly thought he was being pranked. However, third time's the charm and he was completely shocked to find out that it was actually The Pope.
Apparently Francis enjoys calling those who write to him. The Pope offered the man some well-wishes after learning that he was ill. The man said what happened was funny. He and his wife met The Pope in person and apologized.
Taylor Swift didn't mean to cause so much mayhem at Japan's Narita International Airport on Sunday.
She landed in Narita Airport to kick off her "1989 World Tour" when she was mobbed by a crowd of fans. Flights were apparently delayed because the airport was filled with Swift's fans. Sources said that at least two arriving flights were delayed due to congestion.
Taylor made her way through the crowd of fans, signing autographs and posing for photos. One fan even gave the singer a bouquet of flowers, while another held a sign that said "Hug My Daughter."
Sam Smith opened up about his voice issues that caused him to suddenly cancel his Australian tour. The cancellation was due to a vocal cord hemorrhage.
He took to Instragram, writing, "Just to let all my beautiful fans know, I'm ok. I am insanely relaxed and am somewhere in the middle of Australia with no phone, no laptop and I haven't spoken a word in three days. Trying my absolute best to be back on my feet and singing for next week. So amazing to have this time to turn off, but it does make me realize how much I love what I do, and how much I miss you all when I'm not on stage."
He added, "I hope you are all happy and healthy wherever you are. I'm gonna go back to my black and white movies and pretend I'mJudy Garland for a few more days."
By now you know that sitting at your desk all day is super unhealthy, but a new study indicates that it's actually pretty easy to avoid the ill-effects.
Researchers looked at data from 3,243 adults who took part in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey by wearing accelerometers that tracked their levels of physical activity. They discovered that swapping just two minutes of sitting each hour for two minutes of light intensity activity, such as walking, can result in a 33 percent lower risk of dying.
Dr. Srinivasan Beddhu explains, "Assuming someone is awake for 16 hours a day, two minutes each hour will add up to 3.7 hours per week of light intensity activity instead of being sedentary."
Still, Beddhu says we have to be realistic, adding, "We are not advocating for just a total of two minutes per hour of light activity. It should be noted that it is two minutes per hour more of light activity. If a person is already doing ten minutes per hour of light activity, going to 12 minutes may decrease their mortality risk."
Sounds doable, think you could add two minutes of light activity to each hour of your day?
A drone was used to vandalize Kendall Jenner's Calvin Klein billboard in New York City. The act was done by a graffiti artist named Katsu who used the device to draw huge red lines across her face.
He discussed his stunt with Wired magazine saying, "It turned out surprisingly well. It's exciting to see its first potential use as a device for vandalism." The vandalism has since been cleaned up which Kendall pointed out on Instagram and wrote, "what drone? #soho"
Billboards for Kendall's Calvin campaign have been set up across the country including the one in New York and one near Chateau Marmont in L.A.
This is not the first time the Kardashian/Jenner family has been targeted by the art community. An artist named Plastic Jesus posted stickers around L.A. last month which read "No Kardashian Parking."
Furious 7 was tackled and dragged off the top spot at the weekend box office.
Avengers: Age of Ultron had the second-highest domestic debut of all time after raking in over $187 million. Its predecessor, 2012's The Avengers, still holds the top spot and Iron Man 3 rounds out the top three.
Disney exec Dave Hollis said in a statement, "The idea that you have these three titles as the highest domestic openings in the last few years is indicative of how powerful the Marvel brand is and how successful their team is. They have set a high bar and continue to deliver more."
$18 million of the domestic take was from Imax screenings.
The arrival of Avengers caused ticket sales for other films including Furious 7 and The Age of Adaline to drop over 50%.

Celebrities keep coming forward to throw their two cents about the unrest in Baltimore.
The riots were sparked by the mysterious death of Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old black man who died under mysterious causes while in police custody. A medical examiner says his death is a result of a fatal spinal injury and video survelliance caught him being chased and tackled by cops during an arrest on April 12th.
Beyonce took to Instagram, "People are hurting. Join us in supporting the NAACP to help in the cleanup efforts and to provide housing, food and supplies to those affected by unrest in Baltimore."
Some felt that the singer should have remained silent, while others felt that posting something on social media wasn't enough. One person said, "Sooo, now the CARTER's care??? Oh please! Its all because CAMEL and his torn to shreads #TIDAL FOR AND BY THE 1%!" Another commenter said, "Why is Beyonce supposed to do something about the plight of our black males being killed almost every week and the plight of blacks in the USA??? she can comment sure BUT we have a President whom was reelected whos should be Stepping UP BIG TIME!"
THE GAME WRITES EDITORIAL ON THE BALTIMORE RIOTS
Meanwhile, The Game wrote an editorial entitled "Young Black Men Are Targets" about the riots for Billboard. The rapper recalled being a part of the L.A. riots back in 1992, saying, "I remember looting and throwing bottles and jumping on bottles, jumping on police cars and just being angry. At the moment, it felt great. It all seemed cool for the moment, but now I'm 35. Looking back at what we did as a collective, a young black collective, we ruined our own neighborhood. I feel like we're seeing the same things happening in Baltimore."
He continued, "I'm not there [in Baltimore] to gauge the balance between now and the '92 riots, but I understand the anger. I understand people wanting to be heard and being tired and fed up. I feel what happened to Freddie Gray was just another reminder of the neglect of the African-American youth in America and us as people. Look at how long we've been victims of the world. From slavery, from not being able to vote, up until our children. Young black men in general are targets. People [are] using unlawful force to take our lives. We've seen kids shot [and] beaten. We've seen everything. At the end of the day, we get fed up."
TARAJI P. HENSON SPEAKS OUT
Taraji P. Henson also spoke out on the death of Freddie Gray, saying, "It's sad. It hurts. It's scary. It's very, very scary. I'm the mother of an African-American young man. It's very scary, the times we're living in. I mean, it's almost like it's The Twilight Zone. Because look at how well we're getting along here and then you turn on the news and it's like a reminder of how bad things really are."
She continued, "[It's like] he's [her son Marchel] not allowed to have a bad day. If he gets pulled over by the cops and you know he's been pulled over one too many times and he's like, 'Why are you messing with me?', like Eric Garner, he could get choked out on the sidewalk, just for voicing an opinion. Just for being a human and having a bad day. Not breaking the law. You know? Just because he answered the officer wrong, he can have his life taken and that scares the sh*t out of me."
You never want your car to get stolen, but some people make it just too easy.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau crunched the numbers, and reports that between 2012 and 2014, 126,603 vehicles were stolen with the keys left inside. Though auto theft has declined in recent years, the percentages of key-in-car thefts has climbed.
In 2012, 5.4% of cars stolen had keys inside at the time of theft, that percentage jumped up to 6% in 2013, and 6.7% in 2014. That means last year 44,828 vehicles were stolen because someone forgot to take their keys out of the car with them.
Emma Stone was photographed in Beverly Hills on holding a shopping bag with Andrew Garfield's name on it. The bag has raised some questions as to whether or not the couple is really on a break. It is rumored that they are taking a break because Andrew has been in a dark place preparing for a new film role in Martin Scorsese's Silence.
Britney Spears is taking a page from Kim Kardashian's book and is launching an app from Glu Mobile.
The game is expected to be released next year as part of a five-year deal the singer signed with Glu to feature her likeness, voice, and "creative influence." The company is also working on games featuring Katy Perry and Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
And here we thought we all learned our lesson about going along with viral dares. Last week, we had the awful "Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge" that had doctors all up in arms, but here we are again staring down at another trend that is making us second guess if we have truly reached the bottom of the barrel.
The new dare is called "Game of 72," and involves teens challenging each other to disappear without a word for 12, 24 or 72 hours.
The game originated in France and authorities were alerted to the game after a 13-year-old girl from Northern France went missing for three days last week. When she returned to her family after 72 hours, she refused to tell her parents or police where she had been, but referenced the "Game of 72" dare.
So far, the only other evidence police have found of the game are dozens of panicked Facebook posts being shared by parents warning each other about it.
The French group Against Dangerous Games for Children released a statement saying, "We urge all parents to be aware their children might be involved in this game. Children must be told it is much better to fail the game, than risk a dangerous situation and never come home at all."
Melissa Rivers if finally ready to tell us what was going through her mind when she made the decision to take her mother, Joan Rivers, off life support.
She appears in the new issue of People magazine reflecting on having to make the decision to let her mother die. She explained, "I knew it wasn't good, but you have those moments of hope. And you hang on to those. I was going, 'You've got to fight, Don't do this!' I was just making deals with her. And then at some point you realize, there's no fighting."
Melissa adds, "She had written in specifically that she was to be able to go onstage. For an hour. And be funny. She wasn't going to be happy wheeled in to sit in the sun, you know? It was an amazing gift to give me, knowing exactly how she wanted her life to be. Not that it's ever an easy decision, but I knew I was making the right one."
Demi Lovato didn't mince words when she posted a lengthy message to the angry tattoo artist who gave her a free ink job and covered up. However, that tattoo, which was supposed to look like pink puckered lips, was widely mocked for looking like the female genitalia.
The artist, Ashley McMullen, shamed Demi on social media and even made allegations that Demi is lying about being sober. Clearly, a bad move.
Demi wrote in response, "Dear Ashley McMullen, I wasn't going to acknowledge your bitter Instagram comments but since your side of the story has picked up some headlines, I would like to share my thoughts and send you a proper apology. First, I would like to say I'm really sorry I don't remember you or getting tattooed by you, but as you know I was fucked up and sometimes people act like "#turds" when they're loaded. Second, I apologize for my "#peepeetoiletseat"...That wasn't on purpose, I was simply a drunken teenage girl. Lastly, I apologize for making fun of your work.. But...if I were you, I wouldn't claim that one because it looked more like an open vagina (or even a butt hole as my 8 year old little sister called it at the time.) I also wouldn't be admitting to the fact that you tattooed a very intoxicated 18 year old on a tour bus without the proper judgement that most legit tattoo artists have of saying 'Hmm...This underage kid is wasted, maybe I shouldn't permanently ink a hot pink kiss mark on this girl's wrist....? Oh well...F*** it, she's famous.' I can't blame you for getting the tattoo, I take full responsibility for that but if the issue here is you wanting credit, maybe next time you should wait for the person to get your tattoo sober so they would actually remember getting the tattoo in the first place, or perhaps you could've thought about all of this as a blessing that I forgot everything about you -- that was until you outted yourself for the now internationally infamous "vagina tattoo." But you're right, I should give credit where credit is due, and you Ashley, surely deserve credit for this one. #justputitonmytab"
Ashley was a contestant on the fourth season of Spike TV's Ink Master.
Things are becoming even uglier in the bitter custody battle between Rosie O'Donnell and her ex-wife Michelle Rounds.
Michelle is now citing Rosie's alleged drinking and weed smoking addiction, which she claims makes her unfit to parent their two-year-old daughter. She also claims that Rosie has allowed her 19-year-old son to throw parties where all the kids are getting drunk.
Sources close to Rosie are saying that this is all an attempt to get more cash from the comedian even though Michelle claims that she was already a millionaire before the marriage. Rosie's rep told TMZ, "This is a distorted perception of Michelle's reality. It's sad in every way."
