Bosses Use Social Media More Than Subordinates

In most offices, checking your Facebook on company time is a huge no-no. However, a new study finds that bosses don't play by their own rules. Researchers from Norway surveyed more than 11-thousand Norwegian workers. They found that managers and corporate executives held more negative views of social media use at work, and yet were still more likely to check their social media pages during working hours than subordinates. Study author Schou Andreassen says, "The finding may... reflect that people with a high socioeconomic status are not as afraid to lose their job as those in low-status jobs. In addition, high rollers may be more interested in social media to advance their career."
