Cell Phones Slowing Restaurant Service
Do you think it's polite to use your cell phone in a restaurant? Apparently lots of people do, to the point where it's slowing down service. An anonymous manager at a busy New York City restaurant says that cell phones prevent customers from ordering as quickly as they used to.
After comparing security footage from 2004 with current footage, the restauranteur claims that 10 years ago customers spent an average of one hour and five minutes at their table, but in 2014 the average time jumped to an hour and fifty-five minutes.
The anonymous post on the Craigslist "rants & raves" board says that customers are so preoccupied taking photos, checking social media, and complaining about WiFi connections that take longer to order and to eat. The post end reads, "We are grateful for everyone who comes into our restaurant, after all, there are so many choices out there. But can you please be a bit more considerate?"
