Never Drunk Dial Again! New App Forces You to Solve Math Puzzles before Making

If you'’ve ever made ill-advised drunk calls to exes, friends or family... you know that sordid feeling that settles in the morning after. But a new app called Drunk Mode lets you block certain contacts for a period of up to 12 hours while on a night out and only unlocks these numbers if you can solve math puzzles.

Before a night out, users select which contacts they want to block and for how long. This ranges from three hours up to 12. If an attempt is made to call or message a blocked contact a 'Drunk Quiz' pop-up appears, with the message: 'If you're ready to disable Drunk Mode, please solve the following equation.'

Users can additionally enter a list of friends, or 'drinking buddies', they are out with and track their movements on the app. These friends need to be fellow users but can be selected from the phone's contacts list or Facebook. Once connected, if a person wanders off or leaves the group to go home, their friends can check where they are and make sure they're safe.

Report: Rob Kardashian Refusing Help from Family Members

Rumors are circulating that Rob Kardashian is refusing his family's help after several attempts at an intervention. According to People magazine, he has allegedly rejected requests to go into therapy or seek treatment of any kind.

A source close to the family said, "He's sad, he's bitter, he's single. He is very depressed and has been for a while. It's really hard for him that his sisters are so public and he looks like the shut-in." Another insider revealed, "He is very against therapy and any kind of rehab. But his family will continue to push for him to get help until he does. The attitude has always been that when Rob gets his act together, starts working out and loses weight, everything will be good and he will be happy. But behind the weight gain is this very unhealthy mental state that he keeps struggling with."

  • Rob has been mostly keeping a low profile but he made headlines earlier this week by posting a photo of Rosamund Pike as her Gone Girl character and writing, "This is my sister kim , the bitch from Gone Girl,,,"
  • There were reports last June that Rob had developed a dependency on weed and sizzurp.

What's Your "Good Side?" Women Say It's Your Right

We're in the age of the selfie, which means many have figured out the most attractive angle to photograph themselves from. A poll of one thousand women uncovered that 23 percent say they think their right side is most attractive.

Just 18 percent named their left side, and 43 percent said there is no advantage to either side. A confident 16 percent said both sides of their face are "great." Common reasons for thinking one side is more attractive than the other: hairstyle or parting, their nose profile, or to avoid a mole or scar. The poll results contradict a 2012 study, which found people tend to find the left-side of a face more attractive.

Woody Allen Accused of Trying to Seduce 18-Year-Old Mariel Hemingway

She writes in her book, "Our relationship was platonic, but I started to see that he had a kind of crush on me. Though I dismissed it as the kind of thing that seemed to happen any time middle-aged men got around young women." Mariel goes on to reveal that Woody planned a trip to Paris for them after her 18th birthday where he allegedly tried to make it so that they would share a room which was enough to convince her not to go on the vacation.

Backlash over Deadline Post about Diversity in TV

Deadline writer Nellie Andreeva is in hot water after creating a post called "Pilots 2015: The Year Of Ethnic Castings -- About Time Or Too Much Of Good Thing?" The article explores the idea that casting for next season's shows are specifically ignoring white actors due to the growing success of shows like How To Get Away With Murder, Empire, Fresh Off the Boat, and more.

Nellie wrote, "But, as is the case with any sea change, the pendulum might have swung a bit too far in the opposite direction. Instead of opening the field for actors of any race to compete for any role in a color-blind manner, there has been a significant number of parts designated as ethnic this year, making them off-limits for Caucasian actors, some agents signal. Many pilot characters this year were listed as open to all ethnicities, but when reps would call to inquire about an actor submission, they frequently have been told that only non-Caucasian actors would be considered. 'Basically 50% of the roles in a pilot have to be ethnic, and the mandate goes all the way down to guest parts' one talent representative said."

  • The post has received a lot of negative attention from industry folks including Shonda Rhimes who tweeted, "1st Reaction:: HELL NO. Lemme take off my earrings, somebody hold my purse! 2nd Reaction: Article is so ignorant I can't even be bothered."
  • Nellie has not responded to the controversy but Deadline has been retweeting people's negative reactions to the post.

"PMS Bites." Why They Will Be Your New Best Friend

I have yet to find a woman who hasn't been annoyed by PMS, or her premenstrual symptoms... especially when it boils down to the seriously uncomfortable calorie-fests.

But, maybe that is all about to change thanks to one women. Ladies, put down the Snickers bar... you're gonna like this.

Introducing PMS Bites, a healthier, vegan, and gluten-free option for those chocolate cravings. The tiny treats are only 60 calories and are describes as tasting like "a combination of a chocolate classic truffle and brownie batter."

A Kickstarter campaign for the Bites was launched in February, and was fully funded within 15 hours. On top of being healthy, the balls all have extremely cute names. They also contain ingredients like dandelion root, chamomile and Siberian ginseng, which are all believed to ease PMS symptoms. Once the orders promised through the Kickstarter campaign are fulfilled, the creator of the product says she wants to aim it at people whose lives are inhibited by PMS.

Veteran Trying to Find Girl He Rescued During Hurricane Katrina

The little girl, whose name he never got, gave him a big hug that was captured in a sweet photo, and he's always remembered it. He told Yahoo News, "To be that strong in the face of adversity was mind-blowing. It touched my heart," adding, "To get a hug like that. If I never did anything else again, that hug would be enough." Explaining to ABC News why he's looking for the girl, Maroney said, "I've thought about her and her family every day; I just want to let her know how much she's inspired me and to see how she's doing."

Jaime King Explains Why Taylor Swift Is Her Child's Godmother

Jaime King has always wanted Taylor Swift as the godmother of her child.

The actress explained the decision to Buzzfeed saying, "I always knew she was going to be the godmother if I had another baby. It's because she's incredibly thoughtful. Choosing a godmother is a very sacred and important thing in our family. They're going to be guiding your child, and they're responsible for them if something was to ever happen. We try and choose people who we know would raise our child the way that we would raise our child and her thoughtfulness, her kindness, her authenticity -- the way that she's generous with her family, with her friends, with her fans -- is so powerful to me." Jessica Alba and Topher Grace are the godparents to Jaime's firstborn son, James Knight.

Researchers Discover 'Belly Fat' Gene

If you can't get rid of your belly no matter how hard you try, it may not be your fault. It could be your genes. The Plexin D1 gene influences whether a person is apple shaped – with a big belly – or pear shaped – with fat on their hips and thighs. Researchers at Duke University say finding these gene means that there could potentially be a pill that would be able to stop people from gaining weight around the middle. However, the results wouldn't just be cosmetic. Eliminating belly fat also lowers blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

Does 'Empire' Have to Change Its Name?

Fox has filed a new lawsuit trying to stop a distribution company named Empire from claiming rights to the name.

Empire Distribution is attempting to argue that their business is being hurt by the fictional label on the show because Lucious Lyon is a "homophobic drug dealer prone to murdering his friends."

They are asking Fox to pay eight million dollars for the name and an extra five million if the show uses any of their artists which includes Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Too Short, N.O.R.E. and Sean Paul. The network's lawsuit is asking a judge to throw out Empire's request since their company is pretty obscure and doesn't have much of a rep to tarnish.

Man Releases Rat in Eatery to Scam Free Meal

Scammers are getting more creative. Security footage from a British restaurant recorded the moment a man set his pet rat on the ground in an attempt to land a free meal. Christopher Baker, 28, pleaded to a charge of fraud by false representation after he released his pet rat at the Borneo Bistro on Valentine's Day and demanded a refund for his meal.

See, Baker really didn't think out his plan that well. Kevin Smith, the restaurant's owner, reviewed security footage after thinking that the black and white rat seemed suspiciously clean and tame.

"Mr. Smith perhaps smelled a rat at this particular point and he retrieved the rat from the floor. It was a black and white rat, very calm. It did not appear to be wild at all. Acorn Pest Control arrived and they said it appeared to be a pet," prosecutor Lee Poppett said. "Mr. Smith viewed the CCTV and saw the defendant fiddling in his pocket. He waited until a family moved from the table next to him and retrieved what appeared to be a rat from his pocket and dropped it on the floor. He then jumped out of his seat."

Madonna vs Beyonce? Uh oh...

In an interview with Us Weekly, Madge revealed, "The person I most want to meet is President Obama. When the heck am I going to meet him? He just needs to invite me to the White House already. No Longr a Man's World: Women Take over Majority of Box Office Sales

Is there a change in the box-office? Two recently revealed stats have shaken Hollywood to its core: Women are driving ticket sales to a degree rarely, if ever, seen before, while young men, Hollywood’'s long coveted audience, are relatively AWOL. With the release of “The Divergent Series: Insurgent,” women have delivered the three biggest live-action openings of the year. The audience for “Insurgent,” which took in an estimated $54 million from Friday to Sunday, was 60 percent female.

The opening-weekend crowd for “Fifty Shades of Grey” was 67 percent female, and women made up 66 percent of the audience for “Cinderella.” The shift has been noticeable enough to prompt executives and producers to question the causes and consider whether studios should recalibrate their assembly lines (ya think?)

However, change isn't immediate. Movie execs are hoping to lure men back into the theater with nearly 30 superhero movies on the way by the end of ‘2015, each costing well over $100 million to make.

Six New Episodes of X-Files Coming to TV

The truth is still out there and Fox is looking to find it. The X-Files creator Chris Carter has revealed that the network is bringing back the popular series for a six episode event series.

Fox execs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said in a statement, "We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of 'The X-Files' -- one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers -- and we couldn't be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again. 'The X-Files' was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture -- yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as 'The X-Files' and we're ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they've been waiting for."

  • Chris said in his own statement, "I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."
  • The X-Files debuted in 1993 and ran for nine seasons. It was also adapted into two feature films.
  • Production is expected to begin this summer with both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scull

Joss Whedon Ousted as Director for Next 'Avengers' Movie

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Joss Whedon will not be returning to direct the third installment of the Avengers series. Anthony and Joe Russo will step in to take on Avengers: Infinity War. They directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and will helm the sequel Captain America: Civil War.

Joss told Empire magazine in January, "I couldn't imagine doing this again. It's enormously hard, and it will be, by the time I would make 'Avengers 3 & 4', a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own. So it's very doubtful that I would take on the two-part 'Infinity War' movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe -- I love these guys -- but it ain't easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any year of my life. It is bonkers."

Rob Kardashian Reportedly Suffers from Depression

Rob Kardashian's Instagram post over the weekend comparing his sister Kim to Rosamund Pike's Gone Girl character is apparently a glimpse into his deeper troubles and a cry for help. A source explained to People magazine, "He has a funny sense of humor and posts weird things and then deletes them. It's just him. He's been depressed and just a bit off in general. But he has always been this way. He just can't lose the weight and he doesn't try -- he just sits around."

Khloe Kardashian recently spoke on his behalf to Wonderwall saying, "I just feel, especially over the last year, Rob has become very introverted and has a kind of social anxiety. He's definitely not at his happiest place that he once was, and I know he can get to that happy place and he will."

'Game of Thrones' Creators Admit TV Show Will Overtake the Book Series

Brace yourself, spoilers are coming. Game of Thrones showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff have confirmed that the series will end up spoiling what has yet to happen in George R.R. Martin's books.

They told the Oxford Union, "Luckily, we've been talking about this with George for a long time, ever since we saw this could happen, and we know where things are heading. And so we'll eventually, basically, meet up at pretty much the same place where George is going; there might be a few deviations along the route, but we're heading towards the same destination. I kind of wish that there were some things we didn't have to spoil, but we're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. The show must go on...and that's what we're going to do."

The sixth season of the HBO series will premiere later this spring.

Spring Gets Shorter Every Year

The warmer temperatures and bright colors of springtime are a welcome respite after winter's chill, but spring is getting a tiny bit shorter each year.

Don't worry, this year's spring will only be about 30 seconds shorter than last years, and next years will be 30 seconds shorter than this year's. It's all due to the Earth wobbling a little bit on its axis. LiveScience explains that summer solstice occurs when the northern hemisphere is most tilted towards the sun, but where the axis wobbles, it can change when exactly the solstice occurs each year. This year, summer will be 93.65 days long, while spring will be 92.76 days long.

Kathy Griffin Signals End to Body Shaming Comedy

The era of entertainment reporters dissing women’s bodies and fashion choices could be coming to a close. Kathy Griffin’s announcement on Thursday that she’d be exiting E!'s Fashion Police—after three months on the job —seriously disrupted the acceptability of criticizing stars’ outfits and bodies.

"“Listen, I am no saint…. But I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference,”" wrote Griffin in a statement she posted to Twitter. “"I want to help women, gay kids, people of color and anyone who feels underrepresented to have a voice and a LAUGH!”"

Griffin, who was a friend of late Fashion Police host Joan Rivers, wrote that she joined the show to continue Rivers’ “legacy as a woman being brash on television.” However, Griffin found that her eagerness to engage in good-humored roasting of Hollywood stars is at odds with the desires of the show’s producers.

Can This Really Cure Allergies?

Man's best friend may actually help you fend off allergies.

Researchers are looking into whether bacteria found on dogs can help lessen the sneezing, itching, and other allergic reactions in humans. The twelve week study will also look to see if a dog's microbiome, or normal bacteria ecosystem, can help its human owner's immune system.

Study leader Dr. Charles Raison says the idea is that a dog could potentially work almost as a "probiotic" and help build healthy bacteria colonies in the human owner. Dr. Donna Hummell, a clinical director of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Vanderbilt University adds, "Influence of bacteria on immune system on the individual [we're] just beginning to dissect and sort out."

Bethenny said, "I think people should be in relationships with people that really accept them and understand them. I think fame and attention and money do not bring out the best in everybody. When asked if she plans to marry again, she responded, "I believe in love, I believe in marriage but I just don't believe in legal marriage for myself. I do believe in life after love." Bethenny is currently focused on raising her daughter Bryn.

Will Ferrell Says Get Rid of Fraternities

Will Ferrell thinks it may be time for colleges to get rid of fraternities. The former Delta Tau Delta member and Old School star participated in a Q&A with the New York Times and was asked to comment on the racist video that went viral from a fraternity at the University of Oklahoma.

Will replied, "The incident in Oklahoma, that is a real argument for getting rid of the system altogether, in my opinion, even having been through a fraternity. Because when you break it down, it really is about creating cliques and clubs and being exclusionary. Fraternities were started as academic societies that were supposed to have a philanthropic arm to them. And when it's governed by those kind of rules, then they're still beneficial. But you gotta be careful. I was lucky in that the one I was in, we were really kind of the anti-fraternity fraternity. We were considered good enough to get the exchanges with the good sororities. We couldn't get anyone to vote on anything, but if you needed 40 guys to show up and build a 20-foot-tall papier-mâché version of the Matterhorn, we were there and ready. But we didn't take it too seriously. It was just about having fun. But I think it's an interesting dilemma for universities these days."

Cheating in School Reaches 'Crisis' Levels

Here’s just a recent example of how much cheating is going on in American public schools: the current controversy over Asian students’ SAT scores, a cheating scandal in an Atlanta school district, and new research that suggests college courses might actually encourage cheating. The National Education Association notes that at least 80 percent of students admit to cheating at least once during high school. The rates are similarly high for college students.

Why is cheating so prevalent? In part, it’s our obsession with winning or getting the right answer, which places too much emphasis on the end result instead of the process. Test scores tied to federal support increasingly put pressure on teachers and students to produce singular right answers.

Streaming Music Drowns out CD Sales

In 2014, CD sales generated 1.85 billion dollars, while services like Spotify and Pandora accounted for 1.87 billion. Physical sales, which include CDs and vinyl, made up 32 percent of the industry's total earnings for 2014.

Zoe Saldana Thinks Dolce & Gabana Boycott Is 'Stupid'

Zoe Saldana won't let a little controversy keep her from buying the brands she loves. The Guardians of the Galaxy actress discussed the celebrity boycott of Dolce & Gabbana with E! News on Saturday, March 21st, while attending the GLAAD Media Awards.

Zoe said, "That would be the stupidest thing if it affected my fashion choice. People are allowed to their own opinion, however, I wouldn't have chosen to be so public about something that's such a personal thing. I'm certainly not going to stop wearing Dolce, and I'm certainly not going to be refuting when they are adopting synthetic children, however they wanted to say it."

She continued, "Some things are lost in translation. My husband is from Italy and if I judged him based on the words that he misuses in our English language he wouldn't be here today. It's like, 'Look people, have a drink, relax, it's okay.'"

Celebrities have been boycotting the brand after the designers told an Italian magazine that children born through IVF are "synthetic children" but have since tried clarify that they do not judge people who create families that way.

  • Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi revealed at the same event that they have joined the boycott.

50 Shades of Grey Producer 'Not Going to Cry' for Stars Demanding Pay Raise

Fifty Shades of Grey producer, Dana Brunetti, doesn't really think that Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan deserve the huge pay raises they are supposedly demanding for the sequels.

He told The Hollywood Reporter, "Look, when I was starting out and had to cut my teeth and build my résumé to get in, I had to basically work for free on a lot of things. I still take reductions in my fees for the opportunities to do certain things. So I'm not going to cry for anybody who wants to be in this business just because a thing they were involved in did very well and they didn't get paid a lot." Dana added, "That's not the deal that you made. If it was, I'd have more than a couple Ferraris because all the money my films have made is f***ing insane. You've got to start somewhere."

  • He also cited Barkhad Abdi in Captain Phillips and Jonah Hill in Wolf of Wall Street as getting little pay for career-making roles.
  • Jamie and Dakota are rumored to be demanding a seven-figure salary to continue the trilogy.

Pharrell Williams Claims 'Blurred Lines' Verdict Puts Future Artists at Risk

Pharrell Williams opened up about the $7.4 million "Blurred Lines" verdict, saying that it was based off of "emotion." He told Access Hollywood about what he thought about the verdict, saying, "It was shocking, but I think, when you look back at it, I think the jury voted on emotion. This is my opinion – I feel like the verdict was based on emotion and not the real true issue, which was copyright infringement. There's no copyright infringement."

The producer said that the verdict will not change the way he does music, but it might if the verdict stands. He explained, "If that verdict stands, people can't be inspired by anything, companies can't be inspired by anything, or else they're liable for suit. However, there was no copyright infringement. And that's what our case was about. It wasn't about inspiration, as much as we can argue about that and as much as I feel that inspiration is a freedom and it's something that should be fought for and we will fight for inspiration, the funny thing is is that's not what this case was about."

According to The Wrap, Pharrell and Robin Thicke's attorney filed paperwork, calling the verdict "inconsisten" and plan to file a motion for a retrial.

  • Meanwhile, TMZ ran into T.I. and asked him about the Gaye family targeting him now on his "Blurred Lines" verse and he said, "I don't know what's going on. I never really got caught up in that. I have nothing but admiration and respect for the legacy and estate of Marvin Gaye and I have nothing but support and extreme admiration for my partner Pharrell as well as Rob. I know that I'm a writer, I'm a creator, I don't steal from anybody creatively when I make my music. I know that and I think anybody with common sense is going to be able to see that whenever they listen to it."

Short Sightedness in Children Reaching Epidemic Levels

Experts are warning that children should by encouraged to play outside which can help them avoid short-sightedness, a condition that in its most severe form, known as myopia, can lead to blindness.

Professor Kathryn Rose, head of orthopedics at the University of Technology Sydney, said, "We're noticing a rise in the level of high myopia, which is the problematic one. While people used to think myopia was genetic, it's quite clear from the rapid chance that it can't be genes, it has to be environmental factors." She noted that countries with intensive education programs, which result in children playing outdoors less, have higher rates of myopia.

People Choosing Uber over Ambulances to Get to Hospitals

In the event of a medical emergency, you obviously want to get to the hospital as quickly as possible. In some major cities, it's been found it could actually take an Uber driver less time to get to you than an ambulance. For example, in Manhattan it take an ambulance an average of 6.1 minutes to reach a caller, while Uber users usually wait an average of 2.42 minutes to receive a car.

With Uber, a user only has to push a button to get a ride, while placing a call to 911 requires you to verbally explain your situation. The minutes saved by an Uber driver could be the difference between life and death for some victims. As a result, Uber drivers may soon be required to undergo CPR and defibrillator training courses, as well as equip their vehicles with defibrillators.

Laughter Is Ideal Way to Spark New Relationships

Trying to make a new friend? Don't be afraid to laugh out loud. A new study proves that laughter is the ideal element for forming both romantic and platonic relationships. A group of 112 participants were split into two groups. One group was shown funny videos, while the other was shown neutral videos. Those who were shown the funny video laughed more as well as interacted with each other more. When participants in both groups were asked to exchange introductory notes with other members of their group, those that laughed more supplied more personal information.

Study leader Alan Gray explains this phenomenon, saying, "This seems to be in line with the notion that laughter is linked specifically to fostering behaviors that encourage relationship development, since observer ratings of disclosure may be more important for relationship development than how much one feels one is disclosing." In other words, when we laugh it's seen as letting our guard down, which is the first step to getting closer to others.

Kevin Hart & Will Ferrell's 'Get Hard' Slammed as Racist

Please note the following story contains language that could be considered offensive.

Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell's new comedy Get Hard screened at SXSW on Monday night (March 16th) but not everyone found it funny. During a Q&A after the film, one audience member approached the mic to say, "This film seemed racist as f***."

Director Etan Cohen responded by saying, "The truth is, that was a delicate balance to find. When we were testing the movie, Ferguson was going on. It was hard to modulate...how far to push it." Another viewer questioned whether the film was actually funny or just perpetuating stereotypes to which said, "When you do satire, that's a big problem. That's a dangerous thing. It's a very small window -- that's what we're trying to find."

  • Get Hard tells the story of a millionaire who asks for help preparing for time in prison from an African American man whom he mistakes as a former convict.
  • According to Variety, there are scenes in which Hart mocks a Hispanic prisoner by listing off racial stereotypes. He also tricks Ferrell's character into calling him the N-word. There are also several scenes that include gay jokes that some might view as homophobic.

Money Doesn't Make You Happy... It Makes You Mean

Does money make you mean? Social psychologist Prof Paul Piff conducted a recent experiment. At an intersection, who is more likely to stop for pedestrians, the rich or the poor? "None of the drivers of the least expensive cars broke the law, while close to 50% of our most expensive car drivers broke the law," he says. Piff asked a range of people from different backgrounds how they would behave in various scenarios. In the past, public perception has tended towards the notion that the very poor are more likely to break the rules because they are under financial pressure and face more difficult circumstances. But Piff's work suggests the opposite -- that having more money makes you care about others less and feel entitled to put your own interests first.

After nearly a decade researching this field, Piff has come to the controversial conclusion that being wealthy, rather than transforming you into a benevolent benefactor, can actually be rather bad for your moral fiber. "It makes you more attuned to your own interests, your own desires, your own welfare," he says. "It isolates you in certain ways from other people psychologically and materially. You prioritize your own needs and your own goals and become less attuned to those around you.

Kathy Griffin Explains Departure from Fashion Police

Kathy Griffin has been making the media rounds discussing her decision to quit Fashion Police. She said during a radio interview on Monday, March 16th, "I don't really feel it was my best work, I'll be honest. I stand by my specials and my series. The lane that that show was in was so specific that they weren't able to make the transition to the comedic lane that I work in. I just don't think that it's really what I do. I think Joan was the master of the one liners and the zingers. I probably shouldn't have taken the gig. Melissa Rivers was the one who called me and said 'You're the only person that I feel my mom would have given her blessing to.' For me, Fashion Police is not Joan's legacy. As a 54-year-old female comic still in the game, what Joan did was so much bigger than that."

Kathy also appeared on The View earlier in the day where she made similar statements.

Ashton Kutcher Begs for Baby Changing Stations in Men's Bathrooms

Ashton Kutcher's Facebook plea for more baby changing stations in the men's public restrooms may become a reality. The actor is joining forces with Change.org to give dads the same access as moms.

He explained to his digital media website A+, "I would like my daughter to experience a world where gender doesn't dictate one's responsibility or limit one's opportunity. Having changing tables in men's rooms is just a tiny step in the process of rectifying legacy gender discrimination. Men who are aware of this bias want to participate equally in the child care process, and our society should support that. It's time to get our hands dirty." Ashton is hoping to first convince big companies like Target and Costco to make the change and believes others will follow.

There's a "Booming" Market for... Haunted Dolls?

It sounds like something straight out of a horror movie, but there are people out there who actually look to buy "haunted dolls" online. The online subculture got attention after an NPR reporter saw one listed for sale under eBay's "Everything Else" section, and then it sold for over $1,400. When women who sell the dolls were questioned they said people buy them for help with white or black magic, while others wish to adopt orphan spirits that supposedly occupy the dolls.

Seller Jayne Harris says some buyers "are interested because they don't have children of their own" and ask "if I've come across any spirited children that are in limbo." If you're in the market for a haunted item you may want to check a guide posted on eBay about buying them.

Liberals Happier than Conservatives

Not to get political, but new data shows liberals may be happier than conservatives. Researchers looked at Twitter posts from over 4,000 twitter users. They determined each person's political affiliation based on people they followed on the site. The language patterns of both parties were then compared, as well as facial expressions of politicians in photos. They found that while conservatives say they're happier, liberals actually show more happiness.

Study co-author, Professor Peter Ditto says, "If it's real happiness, it should show up in people's behavior." Conservatives were more likely to engage in "self-enhancement," or present overly positive versions of themselves on social media compared to liberals. Still, study leader Sean Wojcik says the study doesn't offer the final word any more than earlier studies on the same topic.

Physicians Pitch 'March Madness' Themed Vasectomies

If you're a man looking for an excuse to sit around and watch college basketball, you could just schedule a vasectomy. That's the message from doctors at University of Utah Health Care (UUHC).

They've recently launched their "Vas Madness" campaign, which urges men to go under the knife during the NCAA tournament so they can spend their recovery watching the games on TV. Dr. William Brant, a urologist at UUHC says, "Men should take it very easy for a couple of days [after the procedure.] [Lying] on the couch, [applying] ice...and watching TV, then slowly increase activity."

Other places offering March Madness-themed vasectomies include the Idaho Urological Institute, which is offering free pizzas and take-home kits to patients. Virginia Urology also has an entire website dedicates to their campaign, which they push by writing, "Enjoy full days of uninterrupted basketball action from your couch."

Dolce & Gabbana Issue Apology for Remarks against Gay Families

Fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have released statements regarding the backlash over their controversial remarks that gay parents who have children through artificial insemination are "synthetic" and that "The only family is the traditional one."

Dolce told UK's The Guardian, "I was talking about my personal view, without judging other people's choices and decisions. I'm Sicilian and I grew up in a traditional family, made up of a mother, a father and children. I am very well aware of the fact that there are other types of families and they are as legitimate as the one I've known...But in my personal experience, family had a different configuration. That is the place where I learnt the values of love and family."

Gabbana said, "It was never our intention to judge other people's choices. We do believe in freedom and love. We firmly believe in democracy and the fundamental principle of freedom of expression that upholds it."

The former couple's initial remarks sparked a boycott from celebrities including Elton John, Ryan Murphy, Ricky Martin, and Sharon Stone who is the mother of three adopted sons.

Perfectionists Most Likely to Develop Bad Habits

Do you bite your nails, twirl your hair, or have some other body-focused repetitive behavior (BFRB)? If so, you may be a perfectionist who is easily frustrated, according to a new study.

A group of 24 participants with a repetitive behavior and 24 who did not have the behavior issue were put through tests meant to cause feelings of stress, relaxation, frustration or boredom. Those with the repetitive behavior issues reported feeling a greater urge to engage in their behavior during the boredom and frustration sections, but not in the relaxation situation. A study author adds, "They... engage in these behaviors when they are under stress. This means that the condition is not simply due to 'nervous' habits. The findings suggest that individuals suffering from [these] behaviors could benefit from treatments designed to reduce frustration and to modify perfectionist beliefs."

Tracing the Origin of Green Beer

When you think of Saint Patrick's Day what are the first things that come to mind?

Perhaps parades, debauchery, pots of gold, and of course: green beer. But who first thought of using food coloring to make light colored beer green? It seems to have taken off in Boston or New York. A 1914 newspaper article details a New York social club serving green beer at a St. Patrick's Day dinner.

A man named Dr. Curtin was credited with coming up with the green libation, noting he added a drop of "wash blue" dye into a certain quantity of beer to achieve the color. By the 1950s it had caught on all over the country, and Miami University in Ohio added the tradition of Green Beer Day in 1952. The day takes place every year on the Thursday before the school's spring break. In 2005 the drink went all-natural when Dogfish released a draft called Verdi Verdi Good, which was brewed with green spirulina algae.

X Factor New Zealand Sacks Two Judges for Bullying Contestant

Pop star Natalia Kills and her husband, Willy Moon, were fired from The X Factor New Zealand March 16th after bullying a contestant during Sunday's show. Natalia mocked Joe Irvine's performance of "Cry Me a River" by saying, "Ladies and gentleman, I'm just going to state the obvious: We have a doppelgänger in our midst. As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted at how much you have copied my husband. From the hair to the suit, do you not have any value or respect for originality? You're a laughing stock. It's cheesy. It's disgusting. I personally found it absolutely artistically atrocious. I am embarrassed to be sitting here in your presence having to even dignify you with an answer of my opinion."

Willy told Joe that he looked like Norman Bates dressed up in his mother's clothing. Host Dominic Bowden announced on today's show that Willy and Natalia were fired but judges Melanie Blatt and Stan Walker will carry the show with new guest mentors filling the two empty seats.

Director Marvels over All Female Ghostbusters Fan Backlash

Director Paul Feig was at SXSW promoting his new film Spy where he addressed the backlash surrounding the female reboot of Ghostbusters.

He told Variety, "The Internet is really funny -- I love it, but I hate it at the same time. The first wave when you make an announcement like that is overwhelmingly positive. Then comes the second wave and you're like, Oh my God. Some of the most vile, misogynistic s**t I've ever seen in my life." Paul added, "It's so dramatic. Honestly, the only way I could ruin your childhood is if I got into a time machine and went back and made you an orphan."

The new film will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. It has been scheduled for a July 2016 release.

Boston College Pulls 50 Shades of Grey Series from Bookstore

Fifty Shades of Grey continues to clean up to the tune of $500 million from the global box office, but not everyone is fan of the E. L. James’ best-selling trilogy. Last week, Fifty Shades of Grey was pulled from Boston College’s bookstore.

Boston College’s newspaper reports that after selling the series for months, the store pulled the remaining novels from the shelves this past Monday. And even though the S&M love story had been innocuously sold in the bookstore for a while, students only recently began complaining about their presence.

Boston College is a Jesuit university, and some complained because the book wasn’t in line with the school’s Catholic foundations and beliefs. Tina Plotegher, assistant director of the BC Bookstore, states that the decision to pull the books was made by the bookstore in an effort not to offend any more customers rather than a request from the university.

Price of a Wedding Skyrockets

The price of weddings has jumped to a new all-time high, reaching an average $31,213 in 2014, new research says.

Surveying around 16,000 American couples, the Knot 2014 Real Weddings Study also found that 45% of weddings exceed a couple’s budgets and, more worryingly, 23% lack a budget altogether. Most brides spent an average of $1,357 alone on their wedding dress. At the same time, guest lists are shrinking even as costs rise. “The average wedding now has 136 guests, down from 149 in 2009,” says the Knot’s Rebecca Dolgin.

The cheapest place to tie the knot was Utah, where couples spent only $15,000 on the big day in 2014. The most expensive place for nuptials was Manhattan at $76,328.

Frequent Pot Use Linked to Long Term Memory Loss in Teens

Marijuana may be a less deadly drug to use than cigarettes, but a brand new study suggests that teens who smoke regularly may actually experience problems with their long-term memory.

When 97 participants were analyzed, it was revealed those who had smoked as teens but hadn't lit up for at least two years actually scored more poorly on tests that assessed their long-term memory. Previous findings from the same group of researchers showed that pot use affects short-term memory negatively too. It's because the hippocampus of the brain is known for the formation of long-term memory, and it also is dense with cannabinoid receptors.

The marijuana plant is thought to have at least 70 cannabinoids, or compounds, that include the active ingredient associated with the drug's psychotropic effects called THC. Lead study author Matthew Smith says, " Due to the high level of receptors in the hippocampus that attract THC, I think it makes sense that we're seeing that that part of the brain looks different within someone who abused THC for several years as an adolescent."

Women Say Men Are Better Cooks

The kitchen is stereotyped as being a woman's domain, but that is changing. In a poll of 2,000 Britons 40 percent of women said their partner is better at cooking a tasty meal than they are. About 50 percent of women say they actually refuse to cook a meal with their partner because their significant other is so much better at cooking than they are. Of children questioned, 25 percent said they preferred to eat a meal cooked by their dad rather than one prepared by mom. Eighty five percent of men even said they think the stereotype of women doing all the cooking is now a thing of the past. Fifty three percent of respondents think men are taking an interest in cooking because it is a trendier hobby now than it used to be.

Britney Spears Facing Legal Trouble

Britney Spears is facing legal trouble as her case against former manager Sam Lufti has resurfaced. According to That Grape Juice, a jury is set to determine whether or not Britney owes Lufti commissions. As previously reported, Lufti managed Britney and the two reportedly came to an agreement where Lufti would take 15 percent of her earnings -- $800,000 a month, if she agreed to stop her drug use and sign an artist-management contract. However, Brit's parents intervened and ceased their relationship after believing that Lufti was drugging and taking advantage of their daughter.

According to Billboard, Lufti still felt that the contract was breached and claimed that he performed services for the singer until late January 2008. Appeals court judge Victoria Chavez spoke of the matter, "We must determine whether Sam's inconsistent testimony as to the start date, the right to terminate, and calculation of his fees shows insufficient clarity of material terms to enforce the alleged contract as a matter of law. We must determine whether Sam's inconsistent testimony as to the start date, the right to terminate, and calculation of his fees shows insufficient clarity of material terms to enforce the alleged contract as a matter of law."

  • The judge then said, "We find that it does not. As set forth above, it is a factual question for the jury to determine whether an oral contract was formed between Sam and Britney, and if so, to interpret the material terms of that contract."
  • Chavez continued, "We find that it does not. The comedian was reportedly butting heads with new co-host Brad Goreski as well as the network who had to censor some of the jokes she wanted to make. Insiders close to Kathy are saying that they are just trying to save face by spinning the story a bit in their favor.

  • Griffin allegedly reached her breaking point when a writer pitched the idea of a segment called "Whore Score" which she was opposed to.
  • The sources also claim that Kathy has threatened to walk away from the show at least three times since she started.

  • Kathy discussed the media attention her departure has gotten during a stand-up gig in Connecticut on March 13th saying, "It just didn't work out. That's it. That's the scandal. However, Hollywood, of course, enjoys blowing something up. Kathy Griffin Leaves Fashion Police

Kelly Osbourne isn't the only one who has had enough of Fashion Police. Kathy Griffin took to Twitter on March 12th to announce her decision to leave the show.

The comedian wrote, "When I chose to step into the shoes of my beloved friend Joan Rivers at Fashion Police, I was thrilled to continue her legacy as a woman being brash and eccentric on television. I am a freedom-loving female and gay rights activist who loves to find the funny in all people, attitudes, beliefs, and appearances, but only when appropriate. I thought that I could bring my brand of humor to Fashion Police so that beautiful people in beautiful dresses could be teased when appropriate. My brand of humor, while unrepentant and unafraid, is all about CONTEXT. There is plenty to make fun of in pop culture without bringing people's bodies into it."

Kathy continued, "After 7 episodes of Fashion Police, I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show & now it's time to move on. I wish E! and the E! team only the best and I hope to continue to make you all laugh performing live or on television where I can be smart, irreverent, unrepentant, and unafraid in an observational way that is candid, honest and justified."

  • E! also issued a statement confirming the news saying, "We can confirm that Kathy Griffin is leaving E!'s Fashion Police. We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30 at 9pm with our talented Co-Hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski and Executive Producer Melissa Rivers. No further information is available at this time."

Push to Lower Voting Age to 16

Peter Levine, an associate dean and professor at Tufts University, argues that the voting age should be lowered to 16 or 17 to make sure teenagers get the chance to vote before they graduate from high school. Here's his case for the change: “I just want to get kids to vote the first time while they’re still in school. I don’t want to push the voting age way down. I just want them to vote before they turn 18, because then we can teach them to vote, teach them how the process works, and teach them to vote responsibly by, for example, getting up to speed on the issues before they vote.

Benevolent Sexism? Is a Man Sexist for Holding open the Door?

It might seem like a simple act of chivalry, but next time a man holds a door open for you or smiles while waiting for you to answer a question, be warned -- his behavior may not be all it seems. Instead, his apparent gallantry may be masking his ‘benevolent sexism’. Often disguised as chivalry, experts say it is harder to spot than the ‘hostile sexism’ we are more familiar with.

It is typified by paternal and protective behavior, from encouraging smiles to holding doors open. U.S. researchers say that while women may enjoy being showered with attention, benevolent sexism is ‘insidious’ and can damage the fight for equality.

We Spend More Time on Our Devices than Sleeping

Do you have a cutoff time for using your cell phone and your laptop? Well, the results of a new study suggest you probably should make one.

The data shows the average adult spends eight hours and 21 minutes per day sleeping, and eight hours and 41 minutes on their devices. In fact, 81 percent of smartphone users have their phone switched on at all times, even while they're in bed. Fifty one percent admit they spend more time checking emails and using the internet than they do eating breakfast (18%) or primping (32%.)

Dr. Nerina Ramlakhan, a sleep and energy coach, recommends turning off all devices at least 60 to 90 minutes before going to sleep in order to give the mind time to wind down. She adds, "It is crucial that people recognize the importance of a good night's sleep. The health risks associated with chronic sleep debt can cause a variety of problems [potentially leading to lifelong health issues.]"

Is Twitter Anger Akin to Road Rage?

How often do you express anger through social media? A leading psychologist is warning that the anger expressed via social media is very similar to road rage. The dangerous combination of people feeling distanced from the person they are abusing and having a vast platform on which to vent anger instantly encourages users to become more aggressive. Study author, Dr. Richard Sherry says, "If anything, online space seems to be robbing us of some of the most fundamental aspects of our humanity.

When using these sites, people are less likely to feel empathy, patience, or compassion towards others; they are significantly quicker to judge and more dangerously reactive in their anger." The study questioned 1,000 social media users about personality changes they experience while reading and posting messages.

Eighty four percent of respondents admitted they become more easily exasperated and enraged at others online than they ever would in person. Those age 18 to 24 were the most likely (26%) age group to say they are 'always' worked up while using social media. Have you ever really lost your temper at someone through social media? How did you feel about yourself afterwards?

Kathy Griffin Breaks Silence on Fashion Police Controversy

Kathy Griffin dished about the Fashion Police fiasco and targeted Giuliana Rancic's controversial comment about Disney star Zendaya. When asked if she thinks she could've gotten away making the same joke, she told the Chicago Sun-Times' Splash magazine, "Probably not. But I wouldn't have said the joke in the first place. Some dude wrote it for her. Don't have anyone write you jokes or even suggest jokes for you on Fashion Police. You have enough great insider gossip from actually being ON the red carpet. That's what fans want to hear the next day. Just talk and be yourself."

She went on to offer some advice to Giuliana saying, "Here's the best I can give you: I will make my Miley Cyrus jokes as long as people want to laugh at them...but there is a chasm of difference between making a joke about Miley Cyrus wearing duct tape over her nipples out in public (which I think is totally fair game) and simply looking at a photo of her on a red carpet and saying she is ugly or a bad singer or pathetic or something like that."

Burger King Drops Soft Drinks from Children's Menu

Sorry kid, no soda for you! Burger King has kiboshed all fountain drinks from the kids’ menu, and the drinks are no longer sold as part of the Burger King Kids Meals. This follows similar moves recently announced by McDonald’s and Wendys. Burger King claims they made the change “as part of our ongoing effort to offer our guests options that match lifestyle needs,” according to president of Burger King North America, Alex Macedo. Kids will now have to drink either fat-free milk, low-fat chocolate milk or 100% apple juice along with their chicken nuggets and French fries. If you are a terrible parent, you are still allowed to buy the child a soft drink separately, from the adults’ menu.

Men Prefer Women Who Laugh at Their Jokes over Funny Women

If you want to impress a man, don't try to be funny. Research shows that men aren't hugely attracted to witty women. Given the choice of a female who makes him laugh, or one that laughs at his jokes, he will choose the latter. Luckily, women aren't too worried about their jokes being appreciated. They, it seems, like men who make them smile. It is thought that women see the ability to make people laugh sign of intelligence – and men have evolved to show off how good they are with words. The University of Miami researchers quizzed more than 80 men and women about how much importance they placed on having a partner who could make them laugh. They were also asked how much it mattered to them whether their partner found them funny. The answers revealed that women like men make them laugh, while men want to go out with women who appreciate their humor.

Why Sleepwalkers Don't Walk into Walls

Are you a sleepwalker? Those who wander around in their sleep apparently have the same number of navigational cells working in their brain as when they're awake. Researchers studied mice and discovered their inner compass, known in the creatures as "head direction system," was just as active when the animals were asleep as when they were awake. During slow-wave periods of sleep the system's speed actually increased ten times as much. Study author Gyorgy Buzsaki says, "We have known that the brain is at work during sleep. But now we know how it is working in one of the seemingly simpler senses-- heard orientation-- or our sense of where we look at in any given space." The findings could lead to new treatments for those with navigational problems.

Since Canada has first air viewing rights, Between will first become available to Netflix users there at 8 PM, before everybody else gets access at 9 PM. Men Turn to "Love Hormone" for Weight Loss

Trying to lose weight? If you're a man, you should know that being in love may actually help.

New data shows that oxytocin, the so-called "love hormone," that is released during sex and cuddling may also help men lose weight. The study was small, and only involved 25 men who were randomly assigned to self-administer a single dose of either synthetic nasal spray with oxytocin, or a placebo after fasting.

An hour later, all the men were given a double portion of a breakfast they had chosen from a menu. The men who received the oxytocin ate an average of 122 fewer calories and nine grams less fat compared to men who got the placebo. Even better, no side effects were reported. Study leader Elizabeth Lawson says, "Our results are really exciting. Further study is needed but I think oxytocin is a promising treatment for obesity and its metabolic complications."

Police Friday were looking for a man accused of using a phony $100 bill to buy Girl Scout cookies.

The suspect initially tried to buy detergent with the funny money at a Vons, located in the 1100 block of Fair Oaks Avenue in South Pasadena, on Feb. 27, police said.

An employee recognized the bill as counterfeit and the man left.
On his way out of the store, the suspect bought three boxes of cookies from Girl Scouts outside the market with the same bill and received more than $80 in change.

A “Girl Scout leader later discovered that the bill was counterfeit,” said authorities.

Playfulness Valued over Intelligence When Dating

Everybody wants their potential partner to be hot, but a new study reveals another desirable trait you might not think of immediately: playfulness. The trait came in just behind friendliness, intelligence and having a sense of humor in terms of desirability.

University of Zurich researchers also determined that naturally playful people deem humor, a laid back attitude and creativity more important in partners than their more serious peers. It's believed playfulness indicates a low level of aggression in men, and vitality in women. Playful people are described as having a love of wordplay, enjoying teasing, being spontaneous, and taking on challenges lightheartedly.

Microsleeps: The Danger of Daylight Savings

You're probably still recovering from moving your clock forward an hour for Daylight Saving Time-- the grogginess is no joke. For many, though, grogginess may be the least of their issues when it comes to the time change.

Scientists say you should watch out for "microsleeps." These tiny lapses in attention account for extra car crashes and workplace injuries that follow the clock-switch each March. Study leader Stanley Coren says, "It is likely that the effects are due to sleep loss rather than a nonspecific disruption in circadian rhythm, since gaining an additional hour of sleep at the fall time shift seems to decrease the risk of accidents." To lower your risk of experiencing microsleeps, head to bed earlier for the next few nights until your body adjusts to the time change.

Special Walls 'Pee back' on Public Urinators

Leaders in the "party district" of St. Pauli in Hamburg, Germany, are discouraging public urination by covering walls in paint that "pees back."

The St. Pauli Interest Community released a YouTube video explaining the most frequently-soiled walls in the district are being covered in a super-hydrophobic paint that causes sprayed liquid to bounce back in the opposite direction -- causing public urinators to make a mess of their own pants and shoes. The walls treated with the paint are labeled with signs reading, "Don't pee here! We'll pee back!”"

"It was a real annoyance that was growing and growing," St Pauli Interest Community board member Uwe Christiansen, who owns several local bars, told The Local. "We wanted to bring people to reason. [...] I've seen in Facebook and the local newspapers that the reactions were very positive. People were just tired of the peeing on walls, home entrances and playgrounds," Christiansen said.

Self Professed Sex-Addict Russell Brand Launches Anti-Porn Crusade

In the latest crusade against porn, an unlikely candidate has emerged: British actor/comedian/aspiring political commentator Russell Brand. In Brand’s words, “"There's a general feeling, isn’t there? In your core, if you look at pornography, this isn’t what’s the best thing for me to do, this isn’t the best use of my time now.”"

Funny that Russell Brand is now denouncing porn after previously describing himself as a “sex addict.” In the past, Brand has used his notoriety to push for political change, publicly lambast bankers, and now, to denounce porn—, which he did last week on his unfiltered web series, The Trews.

What do you make of Russell Brand denouncing porn? Is that total hypocrisy from someone like him, a confessed sex addict?

Here's the vid:

Earth-Like Planet Discovered Nearby

An Earth-like planet may exist not too far away from ours — discrediting a previous report that the planet was not real, scientists said.

GJ 581d was first spotted orbiting around the Libra Constellation, about 20 light years away, in 2007. The planet could be habitable because it is in the rare “Goldilocks zone,” meaning it is the right temperature to host water, scientists speculate.

Of 1,700 known planets, only four fit that bill, NASA said last week. In a study in the journal Science, British researchers suggested the planet may be real after all, dismissing a 2014 report that said scientists mistakenly took “noise” on a spectrometer for the new planet.

Doctors Fed up With Internet Based Self Diagnosis

The site WebMD gets over 100 million unique visits per month. That’s great for WebMd, but not so good for the millions of people with a tendency to use the site’s “Symptom Checker” and diagnose themselves and their own ailments via the web. Or as a physician writing for The Daily Beast puts it:
“Internet search engines are useful for a lot of things. They can help you find recipes and directions and interesting facts. A quick Google search can tell you who won the Pulitzer for poetry in 1983, or if fate has justly rained down humiliating calamities on deserving ex-boyfriends. But please, don’t use it to investigate your symptoms.”

Adds the doctor:
“I have yet to encounter a circumstance when the catastrophic diagnosis the Internet has suggested has been remotely accurate. Just like all the patients who didn’t have Ebola, none of the ills people have been driving themselves crazy contemplating have ever been right.”

Beyonce Most Streamed by Women on Spotify

Beyonce has been deemed the most-streamed female artist by women on Spotify. According to Rob Copsey of The Official Charts, "To celebrate International Women's Day, the music platform has announced that the megastar is the most-streamed woman by women around the globe, with her latest self-titled album generating over 1 billion streams. Rihanna takes the title of most-streamed female artist overall for the third year in a row, with her Eminem duet 'The Monster' garnering over 200 million streams on Spotify, and Katy Perry finished second."

Meanwhile, Bey's company Parkwood Entertainment has been named the Most Innovative In The World. According to FastCompany.com, "Beyonce and her company broke pretty much all the music biz's album release rules with Beyonce last December. With no pre-release single, no advance promotion, and no warning, Mrs. Carter dropped the album globally with a simple note on her social media accounts: 'Surprise!' The Internet went crazy, she became the top search on Twitter, and, at a time when nobody was supposed to be buying records anymore, Beyonce sold more than 600,000 copies in three days. The album's 17 songs all had elaborate accompanying videos, an undertaking made feasible in part by the non-traditional release strategy."

  • In other news, Beyonce and her diehard Beyhive have been featured in Time's 30 Most Influential People On The Internet list. Within Bey's writeup on Time's list, the publication noted, "Her fans, known as the Beyhive, are also one of the most active and loyal communities on the web: their vigilant dedication helped inspire a Saturday Night Live skit, 'The Beygency,' about what happens when you say something bad about Queen Bey."

Sean Penn Refuses to Apologize for Green Card Joke

Please note the following story contains strong language. Discretion is advised.

Sean Penn does not care if anyone was offended by his green card comment about Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu at the Oscars. He explained to the Associated Press, "I'm always surprised by flagrant stupidity. I keep having more hope. The fact is that I understand it. I see it all the time. When somebody sees the opportunity to frame something in the comfort that it will be common -- that they can do that and they can get a group to look at them and that they will take on those positions and never really think about what it was." Sean continued, "I have absolutely no apologies. In fact, I have a big f*** you for...anybody who is so stupid not to have gotten the irony when you've got a country that is so xenophobic. If they had their way, you wouldn't have great filmmakers like Alejandro working in this country. Thank God we do. There's a little inside humor with he and I knew that he would be the first person in that room to know that his film won."

Alejandro has said publicly that he was not offended by the joke.

Gwyneth Paltrow Wants Her Kids to Take over GOOP

Kendall Jenner Attacked by Fan

Reality star and model Kendall Jenner was in Paris last week for Fashion Week and it looks like she's got quite the following in France. Jenner and her friend model Gigi Hadid were out for a walk on Friday, March 6th, on the Ponts Des Arts Bridge when a fan attempted to approach Jenner.

  • What made the situation a little odd was instead of asking for an autograph, the fan attempted to kiss Jenner on the cheek. The reality star was shocked by the fan but luckily her bodyguard jumped in and grabbed the fan by the hair before she could make contact with Jenner.
  • The two models shook off the incident and continued on their walk.

We Spend HOW MUCH on Our Pets??

Without a doubt, your pets are members of your family. Americans definitely treat them as such.

The American Pet Products Association's annual report on pet industry spending reveals Americans spent 58 billion dollars on their 397 million pets last year. That breaks down into 22 billion spent on food, 15 billion on veterinary care, 14 billion on supplies such as beds, bowls, collars and over-the-counter medicine, 4.8 billion on other services, and two billion on the animals themselves.

The "other service" category grew fastest in 2014, and includes money spent on grooming, boarding, walking, training, day care and even trips to the spa. Just to give you some perspective, people spent about five times more on their pets than they did on movies last year.

More Americans Spending Money at Restaurants than Grocery Store

Do you love to cook? Well, then you're the minority among Americans.

The Census Bureau finds that for the first time since the records have been kept, Americans spent more money at restaurants and bars in January than they did in grocery stores. More than two decades ago, Americans spent $162 in groceries for ever $100 they spent in restaurants.

But this past January, they spent nearly equal amounts of money in both places: $50.48 billion in restaurants and bars, and $50.47 billion in grocery stores. Researcher Mark Perry attributes the numbers to dropping gas prices, which have left many with more disposable income. He adds, "I think it's a combination of a recovering economy and changing eating habits. The role of the restaurant has changed in society. It's less of a special [destination or occasion], and even for some people, eating out is an everyday occasion."

Kanye West Is the 'Black Madonna'... According to Madonna

Madonna says that she and Kanye West are one in the same. Madonna told the New York Daily News, "Kanye is the black Madonna. We know, and recognize, that we have that in common. We're comrades in the envelope-pushing genre."

Madonna also revealed in a Complex interview that Kanye worked on four songs on her album and they also wrote a track together for Ye's album.

  • Meanwhile, she also spilled the beans on another hip-hop collab that is in the works. During the interview, after saying that she thinks Drake's record "Madonna" is the best track on his album, she confirmed that a collab from her and Drizzy is "in the pipeline."

MADONNA SPEAKS ON 'REBEL HEART' ALBUM

In Madonna's same 'Daily News' interview, she also said that there is "a lot of reminiscing" on her upcoming album Rebel Heart. She said, "I've been doing what I've been doing for over three decades, so in many ways I feel like a survivor. I see that many of my peers, and friends, and people I collaborated with are no longer with us. That gave me pause. I said, 'Wow, I can't believe I made it this far.' That was a catalyst for me."

  • Madge then said, "There's a looking back here, a missing the beginning of my career when I was surrounded by other artists. Not musical artists, but artist-artists - like Keith Haring and Basquiat and Warhol. It was a time when pop music was more naive and free. I was missing that feeling and that mixture of so many different worlds in New York."

John Mayer Calls Himself 'Recovering Ego Addict'

John Mayer has admitted to having an "ego addiction" but insists that he isn't a "womanizer." During an interview with the Today Show on March 6th, John spoke of his exes Jennifer Anniston and Jessica Simpson, saying, "I went, 'All right, dude, you did a couple interviews where you were out of touch and you were being a ham, and you were basically break-dancing into a nitroglycerin plant.'"

He went on to deny his "womanizer" reputation, but acknowledged that he did feed into the persona. John continued, "You go, 'Well I'm just going to be strange as they think I am.' And then you lose. Number one, you're not playing music anymore. Number two, you're not feeling anything honestly. Number three, you're not saying anything honestly."

  • John also confessed that his behavior contributed to his disappearing act from Twitter, saying, "I'm a recovered ego addict and the only way that I can be sure that I don't relapse is to admit that I constantly have this ego addiction every day."
  • He then gave advice from his older self to his younger self, where he said, "I'd say, 'That guy's really, really talented, but I don't want to be anywhere near him when that thing goes off!'"

JOHN MAYER SPEAKS ON TAYLOR SWIFT

On another note, Mayer has praised former girlfriend Taylor Swift. During an interview with MSNBC, when asked about Swift removing her music catalog from Spotify, the singer said, "I think that's cool. I think that's really cool. Artists need the person with the loudest voice to speak for them… The cynical could say, 'You're helping yourself.' But it's trickle down. You're not saying, 'I want this just for me.' I think that's a really cool thing for a musician to do."

He went on to say that Taylor is one of the few artists who are taken seriously. John explained, "Like two percent of the music industry has 80 percent of all the media [coverage]. There's like four people, and if any of those four people say, 'I want to speak for those people who would just never make this a story' -- The only reason we're talking about Taylor Swift taking Spotify on is because she's Taylor Swift, and that's great."

John went on to address Taylor's record "Dear John" -- which was reportedly about him, and said, "I put out a song called 'Paper Doll.' The song never got listened to as a song. It became a news story because of the lyrics. I'm not in the business of telling people what the song is about. I never said anything about it. And now I just go, 'Look, I can say the name Taylor Swift. She's an artist. I'm an artist. Everybody stop. Nobody's got an incurable cancer. We're rich people who get to live out our dreams. Let's just stop it.'"

  • He added, "I'm a musician who's bigger than one song or one record. So it's really about the longevity of all the work that goes together. I'm just not interested in the things that won't last forever."

The rapper deleted her page March 4th, but before bidding farewell, she posted a message about why the invasion of her privacy has upset her. Iggy uploaded three photos of herself in a white shirt and blue jeans, with a caption that said, "This is me standing in front of my new home, which has a 6ft high blacked out fence around it. No one should be made to feel like their own home is a prison because even your garden may be grounds for a photo shoot. I really just want to urge my fans to be aware of what you are enabling when posting these pictures."

She continued, "It is illegal to post images of someone in their home or property with a long range camera. I'm asking in the nicest way possible to please think twice about that. [Your] home is supposed to be your place of peace. I just want mine to be that too, same as everyone else."

  • Iggy recently announced her departure from Twitter and that her management currently runs her account.

Boston Restaurant Publicly Shames Horrible Customers Threatening Bad Yelp Review

A pair of customers showed up at the Boston-area restaurant Alden & Harlow recently with no reservation, sat themselves, "insulted and berated" the staff, and then refused to leave (one eyewitness also claims that before they sat themselves, they loudly told a bartender they weren't tipping because they couldn't get a table quickly enough), all while threatening to leave Alden & Harlow a bad Yelp review.

Where it gets fun is the restaurant owner’s response: he posted a picture of the customers on Instagram, along with a description of their terrible behavior that included the hashtag #wedontnegotiatewithyelpers. It has since gone viral. The restaurant industry is mad as hell at entitled people who wield the threat of a bad Yelp! review to get their way, and people are thrilled any time someone says he isn’t going to take it.

Study: Adults Catch Flu Twice in a Decade

A new study reveals that, on average, adults only get the actual flu twice a decade. Researchers analyzed blood samples from volunteers in Southern China, and looked at antibody levels against nine different flu strains that circulated from 1968 to 2009.

They found that children were likely to get the flu every other year on average, and that flu infections became less frequent with age. Oftentimes "flu-like illnesses" are caused by other viruses such as rhinoviruses and coronaviruses. The researchers also developed a mathematical model of how immunity to flu changes over a lifetime as people encounter different virus strains.

Scientists Develop Music for Cats

Crazy cat people, rejoice! A scientist has created music specifically for cats.

Researcher Charles Snowdon says the music contains notes and noises cats already find interesting. Snowden explains, "We incorporated tempos that we thought cats would find interesting-- the tempo of purring in one piece and the tempo of suckling in another. Since cats use lots of sliding frequencies in their calls, the cat music had many more sliding notes than human music."

When the team played two of their tunes to 47 house cats in between regular classical music pieces, many of the cats rubbed their scent glands into the speakers during the cat music, in an attempt to mark it as their own. The hope is the music would provide lonely or anxious cats a sense of comfort and enjoyment.

Is the Unibrow the Next Fashion Trend?

We know that thicker, fuller eyebrows have been in for a while, but are unibrows now coming into fashion? Recently models in Paris at the Atsuro Tayama show rocked unibrows which were created using brown eyeshadow and eye liner.

In Milan, models walking for Antonio Marras also sported exaggerated eye makeup, only these models had a rusty red eyeshadow applied in a circle shape completely around the eye making the models look panda-like. Another weird make up trend that was seen on a catwalk: small drawings being added to the face. At the Giamba show models had hearts, moons and stars drawn on their faces, hands and fingers.

Iggy Azalea Didn't Want to Win Grammy for Best Rap Album

Please note the following story contains language that could be considered offensive.

Iggy Azalea was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Album however she didn't want to win the award. In a recent radio interview, Iggy said, "I did not want to win that award. I never thought I'd be nominated ever... My speech would've been like, 'F--k this I don't want it! Take it! Get it away from me.' I'm really happy that I was thought of and I appreciate just that. I'm glad I didn't win because people already hate me enough... I do not need to be hated anymore."

Iggy then said that even after the Grammys, the social media hate didn't let up. She continued, "Even when I lost, that was the worst too. I was like, 'God d-mn, are you ever going to leave me alone? I lost, you should be happy! S--t, bye! Let me lose in peace.'"

  • She also spoke on the root of her backlash, saying, "I know, which I found to be kind of ironic cause it was because I'm white therefore I'm appropriating culture, but then Eminem won it, who's white, and has won it many times. They didn't seem to say anything about that. I was like, 'I suspect it was just that you dislike me.'"

More Americans Getting 'Big Butt' Surgery

Blame it on Kim Kardashian, Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, or Beyonce because this is someone's fault. New proof that big butts are huge: More than 13,000 people in the US paid a plastic surgeon to enhance their butts last year, according to a new report just released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Butt-boosting surgeries were among the fastest growing cosmetic surgeries in 2014: There were 11,505 buttock augmentation procedures, up 15 percent from 2013; 1,863 butt implants, up 98 percent from 2013; and 3,505 butt lifts, up 44 percent since 2013. While boob jobs, nose jobs, liposuction, eyelid surgery, and facelifts still remain more popular than butt enhancements, according to the report, ASPS president Scot Glasberg credits celebs like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez for the recent growth in butt surgeries. A butt surgery can cost upwards of $10,000, depending on where you get it. Which means that Americans spent an estimated $68.7 million on their behinds last year.

Your Conversations with Siri Are NOT Private

When you talk to or yell at Siri, do you think it’s just a private conversation? Turns out, there’s a heavy breather listening in. Last week, a Redditor who goes by the username FallenMyst posted that he’s working for a company that actually reviews audio recordings from voice-powered services. Not only Siri, but also Google Now and Cortan. FallenMyst says she gives performance feedback on what can be improved. Whether this angers you or not, the fact is that your voice IS being recorded when you use a service like Siri.

In Apple’s privacy policy, for example, the company tells users “When you use Siri and Dictation the things you say and dictate will be recorded and sent to Apple to process your requests.” The policy goes on to say that Apple will also receive your name, nickname, and the names of people you know; the songs in your collection and other information.

Google admits the same thing in their support page for Voice and Audio activity. Third party companies such as CrowdFlower pay people to review audio recordings to ensure analyze the translation jobs. Does this make you vulnerable? Or is it just improving the service?

  • Get ready to listen to a bunch of songs about their exes

--Have you dated any musicians? Or do you mostly avoid them?

--Do these warnings/bits of advice about dating musicians ring true to you? How did you deal with them?

--To our musicians, are these criticisms fair? Do you cop to any of them? Have you had trouble keeping relationships afloat BECAUSE you’re a musician?

Patricia Arquette Clears up Oscar Speech Controversy

Patricia Arquette is still attempting to do damage control following the backlash from her Oscar speech and backstage call to action for gays and people of color to fight for women's rights. She told The Wrap this week, "You can't go back in time. But, I guess I would have chosen my words a little more carefully. I think the way people perceived it is not the way at all I intended."

Patricia added, "Everyone should help women. Everyone has a vested interest. Every single lesbian and transgender woman is a woman. Every single woman in the African American community is getting impacted. Every single woman in the Latino community is being impacted. This is having devastating economic consequences across the board...If people can throw their weight behind women I think it would really help each of these bases."

McDonald's to End the Big Mac

Is this fake or real??

A site called The Daily Buzz Live is reporting that McDonald’'s is phasing out the Big Mac. Social media latched onto the reports and the story took off like a wild fire. Unfortunately for those who ate up the report, Daily Buzz Live is a SATIRE SITE.

But that story was founded in some truth. McDonald’'s has announced that it is testing menu cuts after finding that sales in November were down 4.6 percent compared to the previous year. Among the menu items McDonald’'s really is considering cutting is the Quarter Pounder; a sandwich perhaps no less iconic than the Big Mac.

Our Ancestors Couldn't See Blue?

Just as #thedress fiasco was about to die... comes this new relevant story.

New research suggests our ancestors may not have been able to see the color blue. Remember "The Odyssey?" Well, Greek poet Homer famously describes the sea as "wine-dark." But that's not all; there is also no mention of blue in the Koran, ancient Chinese stories, or in an ancient Hebrew version of the bible.

Egyptians were the only culture that produced blue dyes, and were the first ancient civilization to have a word for the color blue. Today, the Himba people in Namibia still don't have a word for the color blue, but have several different words for green. A recent study in Russia also focused on how Russian speakers have separate words for light blue and dark blue. It seems that while colors may be the same around the world, the language in which they are described has an impact on how they are perceived.

Bobby Brown SLAMS Reality TV Rumors

Bobby Brown has shut down rumors that his family is currently shooting a reality show, while his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown is fighting for her life. Bobby's attorney Christopher Brown of Brown & Y Rosen LLC told RumorFix, "Yet again, TMZ has chosen to engage in false news reporting. There is no Brown family reality show that is in production which chronicles Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina or the medical emergency she presently faces at Emory Hospital. These reports are irresponsible and Warner Brothers as the owner of TMZ, should be ashamed to publish such nonsense, particularly one day before Bobbi Kristina's birthday."

Brown added, "Bobbi Kristina and Bobby Brown are dealing with enough right now. The fact that TMZ/Warner Brothers has decided to inject negativity into their lives at this critical time is plain insanity."

Bobby's wife Alicia Etheridge told the site that Bobby's siblings did shoot a reality show, but "this is a long time ago" and it is not currently attached to a network.

Doctors: Parents, Don't Delay Vaccines!

The debate over vaccines seems to grow fiercer each day, but a new study addresses the increasing issue of parents pressuring doctors to delay vaccines for young children. Researchers from the University of Colorado surveyed 534 doctors across the U.S. and 93 percent reported they had received requests for vaccines to be rescheduled.

Some parents did this because they were worried about possible vaccine-related neurological complications, while others just wanted their child to receive fewer shots in the same day. Seventy five percent of doctors said they agreed to the vaccine delays at least some of the time, even though they knew it was potentially harmful. Some cited patient trust as a reason for giving in to the request. The CDC notes that vaccine schedules are based on research around what time they will be most effective at preventing disease.

Animal Testing INCREASED over the Years

Should animals be used for testing our human products and medications? It's a hotly debated topic. A new study published in the Journal of Medical Ethics shows there was a 73 percent increase in animal testing from 1997 to 2012. It's thought the sharp rise may have something to do with which animals are federally regulated and which animals are not, making data on the actual prevalence of testing across species harder to come by. Currently, animals with charisma and likeness similar to humans (dogs, cats and chimpanzees are a few) are regulated, while animals like mice, rats and bird-- which make up about 98.8 percent of animals in the lab-- are not. Spokesperson for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Sandy Walsh, who was not involved in the study says, "There are still many areas where animal testing is necessary and non-animal testing is not yet a scientifically valid and available option. However, FDA has supported efforts to reduce animals testing."

Study: Sleeping over 8 Hours Bad for You

You really can have too much of a good thing. A new study reveals sleeping more than eight hours a night may be bad for your health. Researchers analyzed the sleep patterns of nearly 10,000 U.K. residents ages 42 to 81 and followed up for nearly a decade afterwards. They discovered that older adults who slept more than eight hours a night were 46 percent more likely to suffer a stroke than adults who slept only six to eight hours. Interestingly, the risk of stroke was four times higher when people transitioned from sleeping less than six hours at the beginning of the study to more than eight hours as the years passed. Researchers still caution that it remains unclear whether longer sleep duration is a symptom or cause of stroke risk.

I definitely always feel pressure to act a certain way, but I try my best not to let it affect me -- although there are times where I'm not totally myself because of that. Even at the mall I feel like I can't totally be myself. When I'm not in public, I try to always be with my friends, so I can totally be myself and not have to worry about people judging or watching."

Taco Bell Creates Cream Filled Cap'n Crunch Balls

Taco Bell has created giant Crunch Berries filled with warm milky cream. They want you to put them in your mouth.

Some food experts and foodies have been invited to Taco Bell's mysterious test kitchen to give these colorful creations a try, snapping some photos of gooey cream oozing from the bright pink insides of what are essentially doughnut holes. In fact, these Cap'n Crunch Delights are a riff on the company's Cinnabon Delights, which are cinnamon sugar doughnut holes filled with cream, the food equivalent of biting into a warm, sugar-dusted boil.

Study Shows Cost of after-Work Emails

When work follows you home, it can take a significant toll, researchers say. They looked at a week in the lives of 341 people as they received communications outside of work hours—facing, in the words of Texas A&M researcher Wendy Boswell, "a new night shift." Subjects "became angry when they received a work email or text after they had gone home and that communication was negatively worded or required a lot of the person's time," says Boswell collaborator Marcus Butts, of the University of Texas at Arlington, in a press release.

That was a particular problem when the email came from a supervisor, since workers, seeking approval, "have no course of action other than to acquiesce to their supervisor's demands," MainStreet reports. Such communications especially bothersome for people described as "segmentors"—those who try to keep their work very separate from the rest of their lives.

Lupita Nyong'o's Stolen Oscar Dress Returned... Rumored to be Fake

Lupita Nyong'o's stolen Oscar dress was returned to her because the thief allegedly found out it was worthless. The unidentified culprit told TMZ that he stole the Calvin Klein gown, reported to be worth between $150,000 to $10 million, but returned it by leaving it in a garment bag inside of a garbage bag in the hotel bathroom after getting it appraised. The thief claims he got away with the crime by dropping the dress from the balcony of the hotel room and having his friend pick it up.

  • The thief removed two of the 6,000 pearls from the dress which is how they found out it was a fake. A source close to CK designer Francisco Costa told the website, "Did anyone ever say they were real from Calvin Klein? I always assumed everyone knew they were fake, but I guess not. Do they really make dresses out of real jewels since Cleopatra died?"
  • Lupita told Women's Wear Daily, "I'm happy that it has been potentially recovered. It's a timeless and priceless piece of art."
  • A rep for the clothing brand said in a statement, "All of us at Calvin Klein are thrilled to know that the dress has potentially been located. This was an amazing collaboration between the brand and Lupita and the dress looked truly exquisite on her. Once it's returned to us, we will be able to have the dress restored and archived, as it now represents an important moment for the brand."

Study: Loud Music Damaging the Hearing of Millions

Can you hear me now? The World Health Organization says millions of young people around the world are at risk of hearing loss from loud music. WHO says a review of data from middle- and high-income countries shows that nearly half of 12 to 35-year-olds listen to music at unsafe volumes on their personal audio devices or cellphones. Additionally, about 40 percent of teens and young adults are exposed to damaging levels of sound at nightclubs, bars and sporting events. WHO says volumes above 85 decibels for eight hours or 100 decibels for 15 minutes are unsafe.

Dogs & Most Other Animals Have Very Short-Term Memory

You dog probably already forgot about that treat you just gave him. Animals are known to have two types of memory, short-term and longer-term "specialized" memories. And while animals are known for having excellent specialized memory, memories of specific events tend to disappear in a span "ranging form a few seconds to several minutes." A new analysis of previous studies reveals birds, mammals and bees all have an average short-term memory duration of just 27 seconds. Dogs remember for about two minutes, while chimps' short term memory only lasts 20 seconds, and for rats it's even shorter. Similar studies on humans have shown we can remember comparable information as long as two days. Researchers remark, "We think humans' ability to remember arbitrary events is unique."

Taylor Swift Says She'll Be Single Until She's 30

Taylor Swift thinks that she'll be single until she's 30-years-old. During a recent interview with The Telegraph, Taylor revealed where she sees herself in five years, saying, "I'll probably still be single, let's be honest. No one's going to sign up for this and everything that goes with it. Like, 'Hi, nice to meet you, want a date? Do you love camera flashes? I hope you do!' I don't know what's going to happen if I'm ever content in a relationship — no idea how that's going to work. I don't even know if that's possible with the life I have."

Taylor then spoke of herself in third person and said, "In five years' time she'll be so afraid of everything, she doesn't leave her house. She's just surrounded by cats. So many cats, they've divided themselves up into armies and she wanders around lint-rolling the couch that no one's going to sit on because she's afraid to have people over."

  • And if Taylor finds love, she says, "If that does happen, I think I could find complexity in happiness. I don't think anything's ever simple. Just because you're happy in a relationship doesn't mean that there aren't moments of confusion or frustration or loneliness or sadness. Hopefully, if I ever find some sort of meaningful relationship, I'll be able to still find inspiration, just through the everyday ups and downs.
  • She added, "I used to think it was important to find a boyfriend. But I don't feel that it is now. I just want to have as much fun and as many adventures as possible."

Mumford & Sons Hint Big Announcement Today

Mumford & Sons posted a brief video online late last week of the band in a rehearsal studio, hinting that a big announcement is coming on March 2nd. According to FMQB, the group is most likely to reveal the title and release date of its third studio album. The British quartet has been on hiatus since September 2013, after completing the touring cycle for their mammoth sophomore album, Babel.

Babel debuted at Number One on the Billboard album chart and stayed there for three weeks. The multi-platinum disc was named Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards in February 2013.

  • Babel sold 600,000 copies in its first week of release back in September 2012 and went on to sell more than two million copies.
  • Mumford & Sons stayed largely out of sight during its break, with only frontman Marcus Mumford briefly surfacing to work on the soundtrack for the movie Inside Llewyn Davis.
  • The band is confirmed to headline the 2015 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The 14th annual four-day camping and music festival will be held from June 11th through the 14th in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. Other headliners include Billy Joel, Florence And The Machine, Deadmau5, Robert Plant, My Morning Jacket and many more.

What Age Men and Women Find Each other Most Attractive

What age group do you go after? After analyzing the profiles of daters on OKCupid and OKTrends, researchers have created graphs indicating how our tastes in partners changes as we age. Study leader Christian Rudder says, "Women who are, say, 28 find guys who are also 28 about the most attractive, and so forth. Up until about 40, when that's getting too old." Not surprisingly, the findings reveal men at all ages find women at age 20 most attractive.

To that, Rudder comments, "From the time you're 22 you'll be less hot than a 20-year-old, based on this data. So that's just a thing. It is kind of terrible."
