Free Form Gestures Could Replace Pins and Passwords

What if you could simply make a free-form gesture to unlock your phone?
Researchers from New Jersey say they've developed a way to make that possible, and say it's more secure than the grid-based patterns currently used on iPhones and Android devices. The system allows a user to create any shape in any size and location on the screen of the device, which they then use as they would a password to unlock the device. Researchers found that the gestures were more secure than traditionally typed passwords or "connect the dot" grid exercises. Study leader Janne Lindqvist says, "All it takes to steal a password is a quick eye. With all the personal information we have on our phones today, improved mobile security is becoming increasingly critical."
