Would You Eat Benedict Cumberbatch?

This is not an April Fools’ joke. A Benedict Cumberbatch made entirely out of chocolate — and appropriately titled “Chocobatch” — now exists. To mark the launch of a new drama channel on the UKTV network the network enlisted the help of some “chocolate gurus” to create a life-sized sculpture of the “Sherlock” actor.

The sculpture is 6 feet tall, weighs in at 88 pounds and is made out of 500 melted-down Belgian chocolate bars (which contain 33% cocoa). The crew is aiming to have “Chocobatch” displayed in Westfield Stratford City for the public before Easter arrives.

Sony Claims They 'Overpaid' American Idol Stars

Billboard has reported that Sony Music filed a breach-of-contract counterclaim against 19 Recordings -- the American Idol label controlled by Core Media Group. In the court docs, Sony says that they overpaid $2 million in royalties for stars such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Clay Aiken. As a result, Sony is demanding recovery of their funds.

Sony's claim is a result of 19 Recordings filing a blockbuster lawsuit alleging that 'Idol' stars were robbed through a "tricky account."

  • In a 2014 lawsuit, the label had an issue with how Sony dealt with income that came from streaming services, how Sony calculated television advertising deductions and how the company interpreted bonus royalty escalators when consumers bought tracks from an album on iTunes.

The Origin of the Easter Bunny

Hearing the word "Easter" probably conjures up images of pastel eggs and chocolate bunnies, but did you ever wonder how a bunny became associated with the Christian holiday? The short answer is that it's not exactly clear.

The bunny's connection with Easter may stem from the pagan belief in Eostre, the goddess of fertility, whose animal symbol is the rabbit. History.com seems to think the tradition of the Easter Bunny started with the Germans who settled in Pennsylvania in the 1700s. They brought with them the tradition of the egg-laying hare called "Osterhase" or "Oschter Haws." Their children built nests for the creature to lay its colored eggs in, and eventually the custom spread across the U.S.

Do You Believe in Conspiracy Theories?

A new piece on Gawker suggests that rapper Tupac Shakur, supposedly gunned down in 1996, might still be alive – and living in Cuba. The author of the piece explains his theory:

“Overwhelmed by fame, Tupac faked his death and fled to Cuba to stay with his aunt, Assata. Free from the reach of American media and 90's rap beefs, Tupac knew he'd be safe and go mostly undetected in the one place the US government wanted nothing to do with.

As the rapper began to re-emerge last year—anticipating Obama's move to open diplomatic channels to Cuba before the end of his presidency—Tupac put monetary safeguards in place. After 18 years away, the rapper's funds were nearly depleted, so he sold audio rights to Interscope (the label that released Lamar's album) and Coca-Cola (the company that owns Powerade) to ensure his financial survival.”

Avril Lavigne Has Lyme Disease

Avril Lavigne reveals in the new issue of People magazine that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease last year around the time of her 30th birthday.

She describes her birthday trip to Vegas last October saying, "I could barely eat, and when we went to the pool, I had to leave and go lie in bed. My friends asked, 'What's wrong?' I didn't know. [...] I had no idea a bug bite could do this. I was bedridden for five months. There were definitely times I couldn't shower for a full week because I could barely stand. It felt like having all your life sucked out of you. I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying."

Jamie Dornan Admits He's a Stalker

Jamie Dornan revealed in a recent interview with the L.A. Times that he actually stalked someone to prepare for his role as a serial killer in The Fall.

He explained, "This is a really bad reveal. I, like, followed a woman off the train one day to see what it felt like to pursue someone like that. It felt kind of exciting, in a really sort of dirty way. I'm sort of not proud of myself. But I do honestly think I learned something from it, because I've obviously never done any of that. It was intriguing and interesting to enter that process of 'what are you following her for?' and 'what are you trying to find out?'" The Fall was recently renewed for a third season by The BBC with both Jamie and Gillian Anderson set to return.

One Direction Loses $15 Mil over Zayn's Exit

There is a rumor circulating that One Direction will lose out on a nearly $20 million bonus because of Zayn Malik's exit from the group. According to The Province, each member was promised a portion of that bonus for fulfilling their recording contract but only as the complete group.

A source told the website, "There's a massive loyalty bonus for each member if they fulfil their record deal. But Zayn didn't even want the money. All he ever wanted was to buy his mom a house -- and he's done that -- so there was no incentive for him to finish the tour, let alone make a fifth album only to spend another six months on the road."

Introducing: Selfie Shoes!

If you're heading to Coachella and are devastated by your precious selfie stick being banned, you're in luck. Shoe maker Miz Mooz has just announced a new design it's calling "The Selfie Shoe." The shoe features an extended toe that comfortably fits a phone, allowing the user to control the phone with their toes. Despite obviously challenges like flexibility and the potential for wardrobe malfunctions, it seems like this could be a viable alternative to the selfie stick.

Either way, though, you'll probably look equally silly using a selfie shoe as you would using a selfie stick.

Old Tweets from New Daily Show Host Stirs up Controversy

The following story contains language that may be deemed offensive. Discretion is advised.

It has only been a couple of days since Trevor Noah was announced as the new host of The Daily Show but he is already in hot water. The 31-year-old is being called out on social media over some offensive tweets he has posted over the years targeting Jews and women.

The tweets were written between 2008 and 2014. He even tweeted about Bruce Jenner's transition last month writing, "Looking at how successful all the Kardashian women are, I don't blame Bruce Jenner at all." Trevor responded to the backlash on Twitter writing, "To reduce my views to a handful of jokes that didn't land is not a true reflection of my character, nor my evolution as a comedian."

  • Comedy Central also defended Trevor in a statement on March 31st saying, "Like many comedians, Trevor Noah pushes boundaries; he is provocative and spares no one, himself included. To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central."
  • One blogger wrote on the Daily Caller, "Many young people don't watch 'The Daily Show' just to laugh -- they watch the show to get their news. The show shapes perceptions."
  • Author Roxane Gay came to Trevor's defense by tweeting, "I'm not saying his old tweets are ok but I hope you are crawling through the tweets of a range of comedians. The results will be interesting."

Mean People Get Paid More

Nice guys finish last when it comes to their paychecks, a new study proves. University of Sheffield researchers analyzed the personalities and productivity levels of a number of participants.

They discovered friendly workers actually earned less money than their less agreeable colleagues. It's probably because the nice guys are often reluctant to push for pay raises, too focused on team work and worry too much about being liked.

Despite the pay gap, friendly workers were found to have similar levels of productivity compared to their less agreeable peers. Women were more likely than men to show agreeable personality traits, which may help explain the gender pay gap.

Is Your Job Killing You?

According to a new study by researchers at the Harvard Business School and Stanford's Graduate School of Business, stress from the workplace is responsible for about 120,000 deaths each year.

That's more fatalities per year than Alzheimer's or Diabetes. Workplace factors that may contribute to stress include: morning drives (they correlate with more belly fat and higher blood pressure), being unappreciated at work (which can raise your heart disease risk by up to 79%), indulging in food high in fat, not taking breaks, having no comraderie with co-workers and irregular shifts (can raise your heart attack risk by 23%).

'Selfie Sticks' Getting Banned Left and Right

If you want to go to the Austin City Limits Music Festival this year, better leave the selfie stick at home.

ACL is just one of the major music festival across the country banning selfie sticks. On the official ALC website, the selfie stick is on the list of prohibited items. Selfie sticks have become a popular but polemical photo-taking tool: Avid picture takers like snapping their own shots in front of monuments and sunsets, but critics dismiss them as obnoxious and dangerous to others around them.

Coachella in Indio, California and Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois are among dozens of popular events and landmarks taking a stand against the sticks. In Europe, the Palace of Versailles outside Paris, Britain's National Gallery in London and the Colosseum in Rome have all banned selfie sticks, saying they need to protect exhibits on display and ensure the safety of visitors.

Some concertgoers welcomed the decision, saying the sticks get in the way of seeing the stage and enjoying the concert.
