Men and Women Feel Pain Differently

Men and women are very different, and now science has found your gender may affect how you experience pain.
Researchers interviewed over ten thousand patients in Germany, 42 percent who were male and 58 percent who were female. Women were found to be more likely to report feeling more pain after minor surgical procedures, while men were more likely to report more pain after major surgery.
Study authors say there were differences between how the genders were affected by different procedures-- for example a cancer-related biopsy or an abortion may take a particularly serious emotional toll on women, affecting their perception of pain. Still, one expert says in his experience he has seen no difference between how men and women deal with severe and chronic pain.
