Are you living the American dream?
A new poll of 1,003 American adults reveals 59 percent feel the American dream is unattainable. Sixty-three percent of those polled ages 18 to 34 said achieving the dream is impossible, as they've suffered in the wake of the Great Recession.
Perhaps that's why 63 percent of Americans said most children will not be better off than their parents, and just 54 percent said they feel they are better off than their own parents. Erin Currier with the Economic Mobility Project at Pew Charitable Trusts says, "The pessimism is reflective of the financial realities a lot of families are facing. They are treading water, but their income is not translating into solid financial security."
