Apparently, your smartphone can tell when you are depressed. A small study published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research found that the more time people spend on their phones, the more likely they are to be depressed.
Researchers tracked how many places their group of participants visited each day, how much time they spent in each place, and how frequently they used their phones. The study determined that their depressed participants spent an average of 68 minutes using their phones each day while people without depression spent about 17 minutes per day on their phones
Overall, the phone data could predict with 87 percent accuracy whether someone had symptoms of depression.
A judge denied a retrial in Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams' "Blurred Lines" case. According to Billboard, U.S. District Judge John Kronstadt ruled that the Gaye family will be given 50 percent of the songwriter and publishing royalties. It's also been ruled that T.I. is being held liable, too, for his contribution to the song.
As previously reported, Pharrell and Thicke were ordered to pay Marvin Gaye's family $7.4 million in damages back in March over the song, which sounds similar to Gaye's "Got to Give It Up." After the appeal, the judge trimmed more than $2 million off the initial fine.

We get that America is addicted to plastic surgery and, yeah, at one time or another we all flirted with the idea of getting a little nip & tuck. Come on, there ain't no shame in entertaining the thought because we all have done it.
To get to the point: plastic surgery isn't just for celebrities. Back in April, the FDA approved a drug called Kybella, which claims to melt fat underneath the chin, and plastic surgeons are reporting a lot of average business men are using it to get rid of their double chins.
A New York City-based plastic surgeon, Dr. Sachin Shridharani, explains why it is so popular with his male clientele. The corporate business men are sick of being choked by their ties!
Getting rid of a double chin will cost you a pretty penny, though. One treatment ranges between $800 and $1,800 and it's not a one time deal. Patients typically need two to four treatments and more severe cases need up to six.

Most of the increase in heroin use was seen among whites, particularly those living outside major cities, and use doubled among women, which was a more dramatic increase than among men.

We all have used the phrase "once in a blue moon." But do you know what a blue moon is?
Blue moons aren't blue at all! It simply means there will be two full moons in a calendar month. Know where I'm going with this? Yep! We're getting our first blue moon since 2012 this month. July had its first blue moon on the 2nd and the next will appear on July 31st.
If you happen to miss it, you'll have to wait until January 2018 to see another.

Check out this new study before you indulge. Researchers from the University of Vermont found data supposedly linking European-Americans with light-colored eyes with higher rates of alcohol dependency.
The link is strongest among those with blue eyes. Researchers said the reason is currently unknown, but that scientists do know that the genes that determine eye color are situated along the same chromosome as genes that are known to be linked to alcohol dependency. Other research has shown that blue eyes also correlate with other attributes, including lower pain tolerance and higher competitiveness.
If you're on Facebook, you probably noticed many users placing a rainbow filter over their profile photos after the Supreme Court approved same-sex marriage late last week. Adding the filter is seen as a sign of support for the court ruling, and Facebook calls the tool used to change photos "Celebrate Pride."
However, some are questioning Facebook's motives for creating the tool. MIT network scientist Cesar Hidalgo used the filter, and then captioned his photo, "This is probably a Facebook experiment! The question is how long will it take for people to change their profile pictures back to normal!" followed by a smiley face.
Facebook tells Daily Mail that's not what happening, writing, "This was not an experiment or test, but rather something that enables people to show their support of the LGBTQ community on Facebook." Still, The Atlantic points out that Facebook has a history of conducting research to better see how information spreads across the social network.

Iggy Azalea isn't too thrilled that her collaboration with Britney Spears, "Pretty Girls," flopped. The song barely cracked the top 30 and Iggy says that's all due to lack of promotion and partially due to Britney, who could have hyped it at her Vegas shows. The two performed the song at the Billboard Music Awards, but offered little else in the way of publicity.
Britney has responded to Iggy's attempt to point the finger at her and tweeted, "Can't wait to get back to Vegas. So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to...#YouWantAPieceOfMe" The tweet is being read as a diss against Iggy over her cancelled tour.

Especially since Twitter is one of the most vocal and public places for criticism.
