Pop Culture Plays a Role in Teen Drinking

A new study found that teens who enjoy listening to pop songs that reference alcohol, the more inclined they are to binge drink.  Although experts say this doesn’t de-facto prove this CAUSES teen drinking, they say it’s a major influence.  Imagine, a pop icon you look up to keeps referencing alcohol, they make it seem cool, and you want to be cool – too, right?  The study also found that teens consume two and a half hours of music per day, and hear almost 40 references to alcohol in that time – and 8 specific booze brands.
