Have you ever lied to get a better seat on an airplane? A poll of nearly 6,000 people by LastMinute.com.au reveals that 16 percent admitted they've lied to try and get a seat in first class. Forty-four percent of those people say their lies indeed worked, and admitted to sticking to two basic lie themes: illness and romance.
The most common lies people admitted to telling: claiming to be newlyweds on their honeymoon, being afraid of flying, saying they're headed to a funeral, claiming to be a bride on the way to her wedding, claiming to have cancer, pretending to be pregnant and have morning sickness, or faking a severe leg injury.
Louise Ryan with LastMinute.com says, "Some are happy to go to all lengths in order to get an upgrade. However, there are definitely more legit methods of securing a better seat-- such as becoming a frequent flyer with a certain airline, getting to the airport early or traveling at off-peak times."
Your sense of smell can apparently reveal things about your health, especially among the elderly. A study of over three thousand people aged 57 to 85, revealed that 39 percent of subjects who failed a simple smelling test died within five years. That's compared with a 19 percent death rate within five years for those with moderate smell loss and a 10 percent death rate for those with a healthy sense of smell.
Study leader Dr. Jayant Pinto says losing your sense of smell doesn't cause death, but "is an early warning sign that something has gone badly wrong." Pinto says a healthy olfactory system has stem cells that self-regenerate, and that a loss of smell may indicate the body is struggling to create other key components.

What kind of personality does your spouse have? A new study suggests the personality of your partner can really affect your success at work. Researchers looked at over 4,500 heterosexual married couples, and tracked them for four years.
They found that participants who scored high on a test for success tended to have spouses who were more conscientious. It's thought that having a conscientious partner means more responsibilities get taken care of so that there's more time to relax after a long day at the office and re-charge; or that people pick up the conscientious behavior of their partner, which translates into success at work.

You can officially add "drink a beer" to your "to do" list. A compound found in hops may be capable of improving memory and thought patterns in mice. Oregon State University researchers tested, and found that xanthohumol, a flavonoid found only in hops, can slow down a natural process of the body that's associated with memory degradation. Unfortunately, hops are the only dietary source of the rare compound, and you'd need to drink about two thousand liters of beer to get the wanted effects.

Not surprisingly, the findings reveal men at all ages find women at age 20 most attractive.
To that, Rudder comments, "From the time you're 22 you'll be less hot than a 20-year-old, based on this data. So that's just a thing. It is kind of terrible."
