We Have the Most Friends at 29

How many close friends do you have? A poll of 1,505 UK adults reveals that respondents age 29 have the most friends. Thirty eight percent of people said they've befriended at least ten people at work. Those who work in marketing count 40 colleagues as pals, while chefs and cooks count 33, and artists and designers count 27.

The average respondent had 64 friends, with 17 of those friendships being formed in the workplace, 14 being old school or college friends, and another 14 being met through shared interests and other social activities. Researchers say, "Interestingly, it appears the long hours and high pressured situations we often find ourselves at work with colleagues actually helps us form strong friendships." The study also revealed the best way to start a friendship with a colleague is to go to lunch with them.
